Ironhide was the coolest. I cried when megatron shot him in the face.

But yeah, he turned into a camper van. Umm, a camper van? He should have transformed into a tank or something.

I was mega young when the transformers movie came out (like 7 or 8). My dad took me to see it and i bawled my eyes out whem Optimus Prime died.

Prowl was pretty cool upon recollection. I was thinking he was the army jeep. Which one was the army jeep?

When Prowl died I flipped out totally I was more torn up about that than I was when Optimus Prime died. It still aggravates me when I watch the movie =(

Jeep was uh:
Brawn?

or

Hound

Hound was the cooler of the two =)

Trax(? the blue Vette) was pretty pimp too.

Brawn was a mini dude. Hound was the pimp jeep. Bluestreak(think thats his name) didnt get enough air time on transformers either =(

Prowl was the dude on the jet with Ironhide right? Megatron shot him and smoke came out of his eyes and mouth and shit.

Yeah that was pretty bad.

Not many cartoons then or now were gutsy enough to kill off so many lead characters. Hasbro needed more robots to make into toys so they took a gamble on killing a bunch off and replacing them with a bunch of new robots. Unfortunately I think they gambled and lost because the new post-movie toys weren't nearly as cool or popular as the original.

Shockwave got no airtime because his voice sucked. Devestator was a pimp agreed. When Megatron got blown to bits and turned into Galvatron, he was pimp but his voice sucked. Oh, the fight scene between Optimus and Megatron was the best. Starts playing sad music, then Optimus is like *Megatron must be stopped, no matter the cost* then he drives into the distance...death soon follows. Megatron drilled him HARD nailing him with several blasts to the chest while shouting *fall....FALL!!* holy crap what a pimp scene that was! Then Soundwave gets ultra ultra cooler when he is the ONLY one to help megatron afterwards. 100% loyal that foolio was, and he owned.

-edit- and something needs to be said about bad guy loyalty like soundwaves, that almost never happens anymore.

Shockwave was the consumate soldier. Loyal, followed orders, could adapt to any environment and was just totally bad ass to boot!
Prowl owned back when the series was playing when he took on Megatron after Optimus and Bumblebee were trapped in the landslide and Prowl totally jacked up Starscream and Megatron as well as Shrapnel (insecticon)
man those were the days!
I am now sad =(
afk.

Metroplex was my all-time favorite, with Jetfire and Whirl close behind.

I had over 100 Transformers when I was a kid. I spent all of my paper route money on them for about 2 years.

I also had the "pop-up" transformers as well. Remeber those? Pull them back and they raced forward and flipped into robots. I think they had one autobot and one decpeticon.

Oh yeah, props go out to the Predicons. Those fuckers were kick-ass.

I still feed cold rage at the thought of Optimus Prime and Prowl dying.
So much anger I have carried these long years.
I think that was a very traumatic event in my life.
I mean shit, how often to you watch your favorite cartoon character...DIE when you are a kid.
That was a seriously distrubing thing to view.

God damn that movie owned.

I picked a bad week to stop smoking.

Oh by the way, us old schoolers were treated with DIE CAST transformers. My sons generation gets the PLASTIC crap...I feel sorry for him. They even mentioned this in one of the beastwars episodes, Rinox was talking about their predecessors the Autobots and said *die cast, the lost art*. I thought that was a cool touch that only an OG transformer fan would have picked up on.

NEVER front on Bumblebee, everyone loved him.
I had Megatron as a Christmas gift, it kicked ass. So much that I took it on a trip to Miami; I left him in gun mode and we got stopped :D
Soundwave indeed was Megatron's right-hand man. Blitzwing was a follower as well.
Other favorites are Jetfire, Wheeljack, Metroplex (my cousin has his stored somewhere) Warpath, Jazz and of course Grimlock! Devastator has a strong pimp hand...

And if you REALLY want to cry, go win some TransFormers on eBay and feel young again 8)

LOL Gold Bug, yeah that was some scary shit.
Here's a question for everyone: what was the one TransFormer you always wanted but never got as a gift or tried to buy?
Always wanted Jetfire as a kid, unfortunately I was living in the ghetto :(

Perhaps Shockwave would have been popular if he had Sean Connerys voice?

Well, Shockwave is the only robot i remember beside Optimus and Megatron and i think he should be on the list!

Compare transforming into a Volkswagen and into a Big Lasergun!

I still have my Grimlok, Optimus Prime (red AND white versions), Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave toys. Lost all the cassettes to Soundwave, though. :(

My dog and two younger brothers made short work of all my other Transformers toys over the years. They also jacked up most of my He-Man and Voltron stuff. Bastards!

The prize of my collection, though, is a He-Man poster, circa 1986 or something. It's got all the He-Man characters on it, and I believe it was originally an advertisement for the toys. It's framed and was in my dorm room at one point, until my now-ex-gf forced me to take it down. Bastard!

Bumblebee was the crutch of the autobots. That fool always got them into trouble.

The best transformer was Soundwave. He was so awesome and I actually loved his voice. His tapes did spy and recon missions and fought in battle several times. Soundwave was indeed loyal, and helped to contain Starscream's movements to take over the leadership of the decepticons.

Was anyone else as lucky as I was and had ALL of the transformer and ALL of the GI Joe's, and would team them up against each other? (Cobra+Decepticons vs Joes+Autobots)

Oh, and Jetfire pissed me off because he was the coolest looking autobot, and died in his premier episode...how gay is that?? What were they thinking? If ANYONE should have taken over the autobots after OP died, it was NOT supposed to be FlamerRod, I mean HotRod. He sucked. Jetfire was HUGE and would have lead them to even more victory!

Also, does anyone remember Omega Supreme?

Optimus Prime, all the way. But I may be biased, since I have the original Optimus Prime sitting on a display shelf in my basement. All the parts too, even the little missile thingy that shot from... well, whatever that was in semi-trailer. Did he ever use that in the cartoon? I know the trailer was sometimes used by the humans as a sort of command center, but did he ever bust out the buggy and guns that came with the toy version?

I still have 51 Transformers, including Omega Supreme, Metroplex, Die Cast Optimus, megatron, that minivan dude Kyoukan loves (he became the rhino after I think), Prowl, Jazz, Soundwave, Blaster, Razorbeak, Ravage, Rumble and Frenzy, and lots of others. I even kept those stat records that you needed the red decoder for hehe.

I also have the Die Cast Voltron lions. They also kicked ass.

Roller didn't shoot the missles though. There was a little turrent that sat on an extendable arm, that could fire two missles if I recall correctly. It was attached to the trailer.

I can't believe you have all the parts to Optimus Prime. While I worshipped that toy I definately lost one of his fists pretty fucking fast. In fact I don't know any of my friends who liked the Transformers and had OP that managed to keep track of both fists... everyone had either the right or the left.
