YES!
This is sounding like a perfect translation of the Games Workshop game from back in the day. I am so all over this!

Not only does it have a real time version, it will also have a turn based option, recreating the board game experiance. It's been said that all teams, dirty tricks, traps, and additional rules will all be included in the video game. If so, this could be an instant cult classic game indeed!

Re: Blood Bowl - 360
Early video. Looks good so far!
http://www.jeuxvideo.tv/blood-bowl-video-42428.html
The board game had several racial teams:
Orks
Dwarves
High Elves
Wood Elves
Humans
Halflings
Chaos
Goblins
Undead
Skaven
Dark Elf
Lizardmen
They also had monsterous players like Ogres, Trolls, and Treemen. Don't forget the myriad of dirty tricks and devices like Chainsaws, Pogo sticks, and my personal favorite, the shoulder mounted dwarven football launcher! On second thought, I guess I liked the Dwarven Death Roller (yes, it was a giant steamroller).
Each one of the races had thier own stats. You could even make mixed team races. I remember I had a mixed goblin/orc team with a troll. The troll could throw the goblin (who was carrying the ball). When he landed, he could keep running! "Good" players could do the same with Ogres/Treemen and a halfling! Furthermore, there were several different types of playing surfaces (grass, stone, ect) that effected everything from ball bounces to injury rolls.
They even had Star Players that could be signed like free agents for games or leagues. I'm telling ya, this game has oodles of potential. There better be lot of blood and dismemberment!
Finally, an update to Mutant League Football from back in the Genesis days. (There was also a Mutant League Hockey)

Boy, this game is coming along great! Multiple fields, character customization, build your own teams, star players, team play, real time and turn based play, and online rankings.

That is the best video I could find that shows off customization and team creation. From the gameplay footage, I see chainsaws and what looks like a wizard's spell, so that is promising! The team and character creator is towards the end of the video and is a highlight IMO. I love how they make it seem like you're actually assembeling and painting minatures. They even have them on the round slota bases.
The races look pretty much finalized.
Humans
Orcs
Dwarves
Lizardmen
Chaos
Wood Elves (I'm surprised they went with wood elves instead of high elves)
Skaven
Goblins
The only race I would've liked to have seen that is missing is undead.

I'm a big Warhammer fan but this still looks awful.
