Do we make a new forum for sports stuff, or let it stay in here?

Just keep it in here, or it will go unnoticed just like the NWS forum....

I honestly think that all of the splinter forums except for maybe the books/literature forum have been a bad idea. Simply stated, they don't get enough views and I think they miss out on discussion for that reason.

Just one man talking. =\

That could very well be, hence putting up a poll for this one. There's the saying "You can't please all the people all the time" that applies quite well to our little community here. Between complaints of signal/noise ratio, and then people saying that splintering topic types is a bad idea, no one wins =P

Thoughts on volunteer moderators for the other forums that will perhaps drive 'traffic' as it were to those individual forums? (This is completely made up on the spot, and just throwin an idea out there, please jebus don't hold me to anything~)

psssst Millie you know you want to run another set of movie/music forums!

I like the movie splinter forum as well but even I forget to check it after asking for it.

There was a run on Sports talk here due to bowl week etc. It will settle down after the superbowl a bit.

Generally the less forums the better. I don't want to miss a chance to flame someone. :!:

I voted no for the same reasons as Aranuil, plus I like the fact that Kyoukan hates sports posts Muhahahahah.

Not saying you're not pleasing me Py.

Wait. That sounded bad.

I like the forums, and I'll take what I can get. Here's my personal opinion on the subject. Do one of the following:

1. Retard more threads in the main forum and reintegrate music/movies at a minimum. Obviously this requires a bit more moderation, and if you guys don't have the manpower I fully understand.

2. Combine books/movies/music into one forum and have someone moderate it.

Bear in mind, these aren't complaints, merely suggestions. I don't think moderation will stimulate traffic in the movie/book/music forums as much as traffic will.

I'd be happy to mod a forum if needed. :)

Combining book/movies into one forum is a good idea...maybe even throw music discussions in there as well.

I aim to please! Now with assorted attachments!

And im thinking less of a moderating 'moderator' and more of a 'person bringing some kind of regular content' moderator.

I.E. in a sports forum someone who can run a VV fantasy *ball league or whatever. Or a person doing regular reviews of movies, or new music releases, etc.

Combining books/movies/music into say a Multimedia (?) forum wouldn't be too bad either...or I can just leave well enough alone =P

I get the occasional pm, and was just reflecting that through this - honestly, as long as it's up and running and I have something to read, I don't mind how any of it goes. I'm just a sucker for new ideas =P

I think just moving the movie/music/books forums up to the top just below general would get more people to read them. They're way down there, and I bet some people didn't realize they even existed.

Forums outside of general unless you have a 10000 member community tend to be lands of the lost, so I voted no

Call it Music/Movies/Books or anyting but Multimedia though. Multimedia Forum is like calling computers multimedia computers when they all are multimedia these days. I'm sick of the term multimedia : )

The suggestion to move this newly combined forum right below the main forum is also a good one.

Actually I would have to keep the book forum seperate due to the way I have the attachment code and permissions set up.

I am all for a sports forum, if only to avoid the inevitable "omg, i hate whirlyball yuo fag!" posts. Of course, I can avoid the pie threads, it'd probably be easy enough for people who don't like sports to avoid sports threads in the general forum too.

I voted no, because I'm sure there are more people other than myself that have the General Discussion forum bookmarked. I only check out other forums if its a crawling day. (READ: Sunday)

Please, please, please move Retards, below all relevant forums, just above (or below) NWS. The whole point of Retards (I thought) was that it was for threads that are 'Not Relevant'. I believe the forum order should reflect that. :)

I don't care about sports threads. I care about half the threads on the first page consisting of halftime updates of whatever random shitty football game is going on, and each thread has like 2 replies. Can't there be one football thread?

It does however crack me up that atokal forms all of his opinions around some ineffective little passive-aggresive whiney shitheaded anti-kyoukan agenda. I picture him at home obsessing over what cereals I like and what TV shows I watch so he avoids them and thinks he is getting some sort of revenge.

Yer right.
I don't read the sports threads, because I don't care for them or for football, baseball, ect. It simply irritates me when they take up half of the topics on the front page some days, making me look for things that are worth it for me to read... that's no different from someone being annoyed by the likes of NWS pictures, or movie review, book reviews, ect taking up the same space. *shrugs*
