I dont remember all their names... but I know I really liked Mirage's power to turn invis (unless I was on crack as a kid, that's how I remember it).

I liked the two tapes that turned into an eagle/hawk/bird and a panther that came out of soundwave.. those were probably my second favorites.

Bumblebee was always one of my favorites (I know, he sucks), because I was the smallest kid in my class (I'm still basically a midget), so I could relate.

The movie turned sour when Optimus died and that faggot Hot Rod became "Rodimus Prime." I'll never forgive the show's writers for that misstep.

Who was that one who never talked and he had a little robot panther or dog or something inside his chest? I think he turned into a walkman or radio and the little guy in his chest was a tape. That guy was badass.

There's a great link to all the characters here:
http://thetransformers.net/characters/

My favorite from my childhood was Sideswipe, a red Lamborghini! :D
"I don't break rules, I bend them - a lot."

Profile: Although nearly as capable as his twin brother Sunstreaker in the combat arts, Sideswipe is far less cold-blooded about it. He thoroughly relishes engaging an opponent in a fight to the finish, and will use any dirty underhanded tactic he can think of to come out on top. Back on his homeworld of Cybertron this conduct extended itself to the rest of his lifestyle: getting what he can out of life, enjoying it to the fullest, and cheating to get the rest. His exile to Earth hasn't changed his behavior, just his cause - now instead of doing everything for himself he does it for the sake of freedom for all. Personal safety takes a backseat to his reckless, but brave actions.

Abilities: In Autobot mode, Sideswipe's two arms can be used as piledrivers. Each exerts 8000 pounds of force upon impact with up to five impacts per second, making him particularly useful in close combat and for breaking through fortifications. A rocket back-pack can sustain him in the air for two minute spurts before refueling is necessary. When launched, two shoulder-mounted magnesium phosphorous flares can each be seen from a distance of 18 miles on a clear night.

Weaknesses: If it weren't for his rash behavior, Sideswipe wouldn't have any serious weaknesses. But as he often acts without consideration of the consequences and takes a special delight in plunging into extremely dangerous situations, Sideswipe, more than any other Autobot, finds himself being patched together by Chief Medical Officer Ratchet. Naturally, he takes his injuries in stride.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

The guy who voiced Optimus Prime did a voice on Knight Rider where he was an 'evil' KITT named KATT

Did anyone notice that Matel got the rights to use the term "GoBots" somehow and have a line of Transformers meant for smaller kids called "Transformers: GoBots" (They are made with thicker plastic so a 3 or 4 year old won't break it in 2 in 30 seconds)

From what I remember, the majority of my transformer toys were some sort of metal rather than plastic... there were a few plastic ones, but not nearly as many as today.

My fave was always Soundwave, 'cause it was the only toy I could ever smuggle into school. He looked very cool in both forms, and all the mini cassettes were teh powar!

Man...I miss those days of getting home from school and parking my ass in front of the TV to watch Transformers followed by He-Man followed by Voltron then Robotech.
or getting up superearly to watch G.I.Joe and M.A.S.K. before school.

The Transformers (R) (Theme)

Artist:White Lion
Writers: Ford Kinder, Anne Bryant. Norman Swan, Douglas Aldrich
Producer: Richie Wise
Arrangers: Vince DiCola, Lion
Engineer: Chris Minto

Something evil's watching over you
Comin' from the sky above
And there's nothing you can do

Prepare to strike
There'll be no place to run
When your caught within the grip
Of the evil Unicron

Transformers
More than meets the eye
Transformers
Robots in Disguise

Strong enough to break the bravest heart
So we have to pull together
We can't stay worlds apart

To stand divided we will surely fall
Until our darkest hour
When the light will save us all

Transformers
More than meets the eye
Transformers
Robots in Disguise
Transformers

Autobots wage their Battle
To destroy the evil forces
Of the Decepticons

It's judgment day and now we've made our stand
And now the powers of darkness
Have been driven from our land

The Battle's over but the war has just begun
And this way it will remain til the day when all are one

Transformers
Transformers

Transformers
More than meets the eye

Kilorn you were thinking of this song

The Touch

Artist: Stan Bush
Writers: Stan Bush, Lenny Macaluso
Producer: Richie Wise
Engineers: Tony Papa, Jamey Dell

You got the touch
You got the power

After all is said and done
You've never walked, you've never run,
You're a winner

You got the moves, you know the streets
Break the rules, take the heat
You're nobody's fool

You're at your best when when the goin' gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough

You got the touch
You got the power

When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm

You got the heart
You got the motion

You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch

You never bend, you never break
You seem to know just what it takes
You're a fighter

It's in the blood, it's in the will
It's in the mighty hands of steel
When you're standin' your ground

And you never get hit when your back's to the wall
Gonna fight to the end and you're takin' it all

You got the touch
You got the power

When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm

You got the heart
You got the motion

You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch

You're fightin' fire with fire
You know you got the touch

You're at your best when when the road gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough

You got the touch
You got the power

You got the touch
You got the power

This song was sang when Optimus Prime comes to the rescue of the autobots trapped in Autobot city on earth when Megatron and his Decepticon Minions try to invade.
The YOU GOT THE TOUCH....YOU GOT THE POWER ....YEAH
part kicks in when You see Optimus in Truck mode bust through and you see the reflection of the insecticon and Ramjet get knocked out of the way before he flies into the air and transforms and starts kicking serious ass.
the song is also played again when Hot Rod takes the Matrix of Leadership and opens it and becomes Rodimus Prime.

yes...I have too much time on my hands.
