Yeah pretty much the same for me. I'm not expecting leaps and bounds every episode, but I would like to see a lot more than we are getting..

Hard to get much of anything when you have eleventybillion different storylines going at once. No clue why they spread themselves out so thin like that.

Wow, an episode where shit actually happened. If only they could all be like this one. Only a few storylines going at once definitely make things much better.

Kensei.. He's dead.. Then he's back again. omg what's going on! Either way I'm glad we're done with that ancient Japan storyline. I was quite tired of it.

Kensei is immortal. Which means...ding ding ding, as long as Claire doesn't get into actual harm where her head falls off, she'll live forever.

I was so relieved. This episode actually moved the story forward, and things actually occurred. I couldn't believe it at first. Hopefully more will come of the same.

And it doesn't appear Kensei/Adam Monroe aged since he discovered his powers. Which means Claire will be a perpetually 17 year-old cheerleader.

I still don't know what people were talking about last week, it was setting it all up for this week. I thought last week was good and this week was better and next week will be better still. It isn't like Law and Order or CSI where it's all episodic content and a whole story is wrapped up in 44 minutes, it's modeled after a comic book with story arcs.

I think most people realize that. But it's a valid point. The previous few episodes have had way too many characters/storylines going at the same time. When each only gets 3-4 minutes airtime it's a bit disappointing. The episode this week limited itself to only 3-4 storylines and had much better pacing.

We're also aware it has comic book 'overtones' and large story arcs. However this is TV not printed media so they have to approach things a little differently.

If you look at my posts on the show from early last season, I whined that the serial format made it difficult for me to get into the show... I think they have picked up the pace (so far) in the storytelling this season.
It's barely 2 months into the season and there's been a hell of a lot less 'WTF is going on' and much more story progression.

As far as Claire being perpetually 17, is Adam stuck in his teens? He appears to be in his 20s or 30s, i.e. the prime of his life. Perhaps Claire will age until she reaches her development peak (no snickers) and then stop.

Frankly, I loved the Takezo character, I just didnt' like the feudal Japan storyline. I think the writers made the right choice by keeping him around--they need more Englishmen on the show. Bring back invisible man, too!

Perhaps that thought didn't translate well from my mind to the paper, as it were. I meant it doesn't appear that he aged since his powers manifested; he looks to be the same age present-day as he was in feudal Japan when he and Hiro discovered that he could regenerate. Claire staying perpetually 17, while kind of hot, would then be contingent on her having only recently manifesting her powers. But now that I think about it, I think we've heard of her having those powers since she was little, so it's probably a moot point!

Ahh, you're right, I didn't think about the manifestation. So there's two possibilities: either it's at the point of manifestation, or at a certain age where the body just stops maturing.
Claire's powers were evident when she was a baby, and that's how she survived the fire that her mother started. I wonder, if we ever got a glimpse at Adam's past, whether or not he had life or death experiences that he magically survived? I'd place my money on his past being affected by the power, whether he knew it or not.

Adam's power similar to Peter.
I'm betting that he actually traveled back in time to feudal Japan.

I didn't like the entire ancient Japan storyline. Glad it's over with.

Flyboy is still extremely annoying to me. Claire/Flyboy storyline seems so forced..., how many times can Flyboy mention "the man with the horn rimmed glasses". We got it the first time.

Things should pick up now that ancient Japan is done with. There needs to be some more combining of storylines, reducing the need to skip half of the storylines every other week.

Now this is refreshing. The writer admitting that the first few episodes of H E R O E S second season sucked.
'Heroes' Creator Apologizes to Fans

Tim Kring admits mistakes were made at the beginning of season 2, but promises to get back on track

''In retrospect, I don't think romance is a natural fit for us,'' says Kring of the love stories starring Claire and Hiro

On the chilly Monday morning that Hollywood's writers went on strike, Heroes creator Tim Kring called from the streets outside the Hollywood studio where his NBC series is shot. ''Yes, I'm picketing my own show,'' says the 50-year-old writer-producer. ''So surreal.''

But Kring wasn't calling to discuss labor woes — he was calling to explain why Heroes, suffering a creative decline and a 15 percent ratings drop from the same period last year, went from Human Torch hot to Iceman cold. The good news? A turnaround appears to be under way. After weeks of sluggish storytelling, the Nov. 5 episode recaptured some of last season's fanciful energy. We've also seen the next two episodes — and we like them, too. The cliff-hangers are back. Narrative purpose has been discovered. Old favorites like Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and Horn-Rimmed Glasses (Jack Coleman) take center stage. Even more encouraging: Kring himself is keenly aware that Heroes is broken. Here's his candid critique:

THE PACE IS TOO SLOW ''We assumed the audience wanted season 1 — a buildup of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. We taught [them] to expect a certain kind of storytelling. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake.''

THE WORLD-SAVING STAKES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED SOONER The premonition of nuclear apocalypse created a larger context that unified every story line last season. Kring now sees that Volume 2 (the first 11 episodes of season 2) would have been better served if Peter's vision of viral Armageddon had appeared in the season premiere rather than episode 7. ''We took too long to get to the big-picture story,'' he says.

THE ROOKIES DIDN'T GREET THEMSELVES PROPERLY New Heroes Monica (Dana Davis), Maya (Dania Ramirez), and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) ''shouldn't have been introduced in separate story lines that felt unattached to the show. The way we introduced Elle (Kristen Bell) — by weaving her in via Peter's story line — is a more logical way to bring new characters into the show.'' (That said, Kring says a few newbies won't make it beyond this second volume, which wraps Dec. 3.)

HIRO WAS IN JAPAN WAY TOO LONG Hiro's (Masi Oka) time-bending adventure in 17th-century Japan — where he mentored samurai hero Takezo Kensei (David Anders) — finally came to an end on Nov. 5. But Kring says it ''should have [lasted] three episodes. We didn't give the audience enough story to justify the time we allotted it.''

YOUNG LOVE STINKS Kring regrets sticking Claire (Hayden Panettiere) with a super-dud boyfriend and forcing Hiro to moon over a cutesy princess. ''I've seen more convincing romances on TV,'' he admits. ''In retrospect, I don't think romance is a natural fit for us.''

Yet while Heroes has finally found some dramatic traction, this second volume is pretty much a wash. The Dec. 3 episode has been retooled to function as a potential season finale — a move inspired by the writers' strike and a desire to give the show ''a clean slate'' when it goes back into production for Volume 3. At that point, Kring wants to craft a rebooted Heroes that can attract new fans and win back those who've tuned out: ''The message is that we've heard the complaints — and we're doing something about it.''
Awesome. Fix the problems and move on!

rofl, i was just about to post the above. the cool thing is that every single complaint has been brought up in this thread.

the biggest problem was the pacing. if he gives us a 1/2 season of adrenaline to finish up with (a few build up episodes are expected) then i will be back behind this show in a big way.

Yes, because he's responding solely to VV's problems with his show. Novelists and short story writers have it easier than a television writer; they get to go through endless rewrites and edits. A television writer has around six to twelve days to work on a script before it is due for production. The 'vision' has to be thought up fairly quickly and then executed in the screenplay format. This doesn't leave a lot of time for contemplation of the overall story arc. It's perfectly okay for a writer on a television show to listen to his fans; unlike novelists, who are paid upfront and only receive a tiny royalty in most instances, television writers are slaves to their audience. Without that audience, there'd be no show for these writers to work for. So it's not surprising at all that they'd have their ear to the ground, listening to what people have to say about the show. It's smart business (and in this case, smart writing).

Good. Don't watch it. They were valid complaints and the show's creators recognized that. And also the network I'm sure as ratings haven't been all that stellar. So have fun enjoying his vision when it goes off the air. lolz

Maybe I'll bother watching the last 2 or 3 episodes that have been sitting on my DVR pending erase.. Seriously haven't been able to get into this season. Glad to see they're recognizing they're own mistakes and facing up to them.

Maybe we should introduce them to the president.

SEASON 3, EPISODE 1

Post by Dregor Thule »

WARNING

The following contains spoilers for the season premiere of season 3 of Heroes!
Warning: The following contains spoilers for Seasons 1 and 2.

INT. BENNET RESIDENCE - DAY

NOAH BENNET walks into the galley to find CLAIRE, his daughter, making breakfast for herself.

NOAH
Good morning sweetheart.

CLAIRE
(sarcastic) How can you tell it’s even morning?

NOAH
Honey, you knew things would be different after
we were forced to relocate to a WWII submarine.

CLAIRE
But it’s so lame here. There’s nothing to do.
I miss cheerleading.

NOAH
Well, I think it’s a great change of pace.
You can focus on your homeschooling, there’s
no boys to distract you, or cheerleading, and
we’re living underwater in a diesel-powered
metal tube.

CLAIRE
But Dad –

NOAH
Buts are for buttocks, young lady. Finish your
breakfast and scoot down to those bilge pumps.

NOAH kisses her forehead.

CLAIRE
Whatever.

Just then CLAIRE slips on a grease spot carelessly left unmopped by their mechanic. She strikes her head on the metal countertop and falls unconscious.

NOAH
Claire!!

CLAIRE’s regeneration power awakens her after a tense moment.

CLAIRE
Ugh… who… who are you? Where am I? I think
I have… amnesia!

NOAH
Oh no!

EXT. UNNAMED UNITED ARAB EMIRATES CITY - NIGHT

PETER PETRELLI wakes up in a dumpster.

PETER
Ugh… how did I get here? I remember…
flying…

An Arab man, MUSTAFFAH, runs up to the dumpster.

MUSTAFFAH
Hurry, you must come with me!

PETER
But why?

MUSTAFFAH
You’re wanted for a murder. No time to explain.
There’s only one place you’ll be safe for now.
Quickly! There’s no time. The police are almost here!

MUSTAFFAH and PETER rush out of the alleyway and into a building marked “French Foreign Legion - Recruiting Station.”

INT. HIRO’S APARTMENT - DAY

HIRO and ANDO are sitting on HIRO’s COUCH. The couch is leather.

HIRO
I’m so glad to be back from feudal Japan, and back
here with my best friend Ando.

ANDO
It’s good to have you back. I felt we were separated
for too long.

HIRO
Yes. It is a shame when a person ends up leaving
for an extended period of time to run down some
wild goose chase that has no bearing on the events
in his life.

ANDO
Want to play N64?

HIRO
Yeah! I took a week off of work.

ANDO
Me too! Let’s play N64 all week.

HIRO and ANDO start playing N64. The phone rings, but they don’t answer and it’s not an important call anyway. *** WRITER’S NOTE: FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON, TO BREAK TENSION IN OTHER STORYLINES, CUT TO HIRO AND ANDO PLAYING N64. THIS WILL BE OUR “C” PLOT. ***

EXT. PRIMATECH PAPER - DAY

MOHINDER SURESH stands in the Primatech Paper parking lot, examining a map. NED REYERSON has a gun at his back.

NED
I always knew you’d betray me, Suresh.

MOHINDER
How did you know what I was up to?

NED
It doesn’t matter now. If you don’t take me to
Noah Bennet, I’ll kill you. And when I find Molly,
she’s dead too.

MOHINDER
You monster!

Suddenly there is a flash of light. A young woman, strangely familiar, has materialized in front of MOHINDER and NEEDLENOSE NED.

NED
Who are you?

FUTURE MOLLY
A friend. Sorry, Mohinder, but I have to do this.
You’ll understand… in the future… where I’m
from.

MOHINDER
The future?

HE EATS HIS PEN
The future-future?

FUTURE MOLLY touches her index fingertips together, stopping time. Then she pulls a special gun out of her cleavage that says AMNESIA RAY. She blasts both MOHINDER and THE GUY FROM GROUNDHOG DAY in one burst, then presses the palms of her hands together to start time again.

NED
What… who are you…

MOHINDER
Who am I? Where is this?

FUTURE MOLLY
I’m a friend. Both of you have to help me.
It’s a mission of utmost importance. You –

Suddenly the HAITIAN steps out from the shadows and erases FUTURE MOLLY’s memory. She crumples to the ground, and NED and MOHINDER rush over to help her. The HAITIAN slinks away.

NED
We have more amnesia!!!

INT. BENNET SUBMARINE - NIGHT

CLAIRE awakens on a bed to find someone other than her father taking care of her.

CLAIRE
Who are you?

WEST
I’m West, the ship’s mechanic.

CLAIRE
You’re like, my age. That’s pretty
young to be a sub mechanic.

WEST
Okay, I lied. I stowed away.

CLAIRE
But why?

WEST
I was the one who left the grease
spot for you to slip on in the
kitchen today. I’m why you can’t
remember who you are.

CLAIRE
Why would you do that to me?

WEST
Because I know you have powers
like me. And I like to watch you
sleep.

CLAIRE
Huh?

WEST
I like to watch you sleep in your
window at night. I watch your chest
rise and fall. Sometimes I fly into
your window and hover one inch away
from your face.

CLAIRE
Oh my God, you’re a creep.

WEST
Then I go into your hamper and try
on your dirty bras and panties.

CLAIRE
HELP! There’s a sicko in here! Someone!

WEST
Claire, just trust me. Let’s be boyfriend
and girlfriend.

CLAIRE
Okay.

CLAIRE and WEST kiss passionately.

INT. ZARDOFAX SPACEBASE IN JUPITER ORBIT - DAY

NIKKI, LINDERMAN CLONE PRIME and SYLAR awake from the TransFreeze chambers and rub their eyes. A group of aliens approach the three of them. All the aliens look like NATHAN PETRELLI.

NATHAN ALIENS
(in unison) Awaken, slumberers. Your
mission is of the utmost importance.

SYLAR
Who… who are you… where am I…

The TransFreeze chambers rotate to look astoundingly like the all-new 2008 Nissan Rogue.

NATHAN ALIENS
There is a new directive from our leaders. We do not
understand it… and we believe you will.

NIKKI
I feel so strange!

LINDERMAN
What is this directive?

NATHAN ALIENS
… “Kill the cheerleader, save the Zardofax home dimension
from the Fligblat Magnetotimespace Anomaly in Quadrocylinder
Zim Zamazod.”

Suddenly SYLAR screams.

SYLAR
I… I’m a man?!

NATHAN ALIENS
We also switched all your bodies and gave you amnesia.

TO BE CONTINUED!
Shamelessly lifted from halfpixel.com.

Now that was a much better episode of H E R O E S. It takes waiting for the first flashback episode of each season to get things moving.

I thought it was a pretty weak episode. I had enough of split chick the last season. Did we really need more? And the spanish speaking blunder twins? /yawn I don't care if everything ties together in the end (assuming it even does) if it is presented weakly through the whole season it's not really worth the payoff. Just make it fucking interesting at least for fuck sake. I was honestly uninterested and nearly bored to tears watching the latest episode.

I loved it. Then again, I've loved every episode. I enjoy the pacing of this show and how in-depth they go into every character. I hope this guy is as smart as I think he is and continues doing what he has been all along and just says he's listening to the whiney douche-nozzles, negative, bitter, action-junkies, ignorant fuckholes that post all over the net and perpetrate creative-terrorism on these artists.

Wha wha shut the fuck up. It has nothing to do with "action junkies" It's called have something happen in the fucking show. The last episide is pretty much the definition of sloppy filmmaking in my opinion. The fact that Midynte liked it just goes to prove how much help it needs.

Everytime the spanish wonder twins come on, I want to change the channel.. only reason I don't is because it's DVR; so I just fast forward. If I wanted to watch Telemundo I would. I'm happiest lately when Claire isn't on as well. Enough whiney clueless bitches thanks. And what the hell is up with the Center for Hero Detention (CHD!)? How hard is it for an immortal guy to escape sometime over a 30 year period? What are they going to do, shoot him on the way out? The killing of Mica's dad was lame too. I could have written a better storyline sitting on the crapper. If they don't get better, and quickly, I'll be surprised if the show lasts past next season.

For the most part this season has been a complete disappointment. Kid Nation has been more entertaining.

I did have a problem with DL's death. Good lord, he can avoid a punch reflexively without knowing it is coming, but then when someone comes and puts a gun to his chest, there's a beat, and then he shoots, DL can't shift out of it? Come on, that's beyond silly.

If he shifts, the bullet could have gone up the stairwell and killed an innocent person. A true hero would not allow that. He takes the bullet.

He should have ducked behind Mustang Salley, have her die and then DL could hook up with the new Hero chick that can learn any physical activity by watching it.

Umm, she's a blood relative; sister, cousin, niece, something. How far south are you again? :)

Whatever. They could crate some sort of inbred freak Hero that would make season 3 interesting.

I liked the episode overall. This was the only episode where I felt the storyline with Maya was not needed. We really gained nothing by seeing why there were all of the posters about them being wanted for murder. We already knew that her power would kill people around her.

I disagree. I think showing how their powers developed added a bit more depth to them. Nothing earth shattering of course, they're still pretty weak characters.
