Personally I see Peter as more of a Phoenix character than a Superman character to continue the X-Men parallels. I think it's inevitable that he will become corrupt only to find redemption. And probably death! KYAAAAAAA!

Re: Heroes Season 2 Discussion *SPOILERS*

Episode 2 improved upon the Season 2 opener.

One thing that bothered me was the guy holding the box that has Peter's identity. Peter regained control of his telekineses and could easily throw that guy into a wall and get that box. I thought it kind of comical to be holding the box over the fire. It would make a little more sense to tell Peter his name and let him know he had information on his identity but not actually have it in the room.

The Claire storyline needs to improve fast.

Hiro in ancient Japan is so so. Not as good w/out Ando.

I wonder if it will take like 5 more episodes for the brother/sister team to make it up to the United States at the current rate they're traveling per episode. I think their characters and storyline will improve once they start mingling with other heroes. We know the brother has to be close by or the sister starts blackening people's eyes so season 2 finale will probably be Nathan Petrelli grabbing the sister along with season 2's bad guy and flying away from the brother, sacrificing himself to kill the bad guy. Season 3 will open with the sister falling into a tree but surviving for another season.

While I agree about the box vs Peter thing--I think they(writers) are just playing on Peter's fear; since he has no fucking clue what is going on. Once he gets his confidence, the box will not matter to him--therefore he will be able to lay some woopass down. As far as the Hiro story arc--well,everyone loves Hiro; however, everyone is sick of Hiro being a pussy. He doesn't need changing per se--just needs a bit of story resolution and character evolution. He DID evolve into somewhat of a badass at some point last season. Why go back to naivete?

My DVR cut off right after Claire cut off her toe and saw emo-fly boy. What happened after that?

I don't think she ever saw him fly away. She saw him at the window, and found the Genetics book from Saresh's (sp?) father on the driveway. The one he was trying to get her to read before. Mr Muggles apparently DID see the kid flying, as he was barking while looking up. Claire was busy looking at the book. The End.

Because people don't change who they are inside, ever. You can put on a front and feel empowered at times, but you are still who you are.

The whole idea of a linear show like this is that characters have to chart some growth. Otherwise, stagnant characters can't move a storyline along. This is a stark contrast to most shows, where the characters basically stay the same each week, i.e. a sitcom or a drama where the episode is standalone. Think Law and Order episodes; the detectives are basically the same ball-busting criminal catchers each week. Sure, they have personal lives introduced, but the majority of episodes they're the same person.
This is different from shows like Heroes, Battlestar Galactica, Lost, where characters grow and change to fit the new storyline. That's why these shows are my favorites.

I'm not disagreeing with you. But, people don't generally do a 180. Inside or when they are alone, they are still who they are. But, I'll concede people do progress greatly through age and experience.

Don't forget that Peter probably regenerated from a a few cells after the explosion so it may have messed with his memory and other things as compared to when Claire regenerates toe or mends a broken leg or laceration with the Brain remaining mostly intact (except for partial destruction of the brain when Claire got the stick in the head and Peter got the glass shard in the head)

hmm, how many Peter's might there be? If two clumps of tissue "survived," what would decide which became Peter?

Really sick of Claire turning into a whiny bitch this season.

The two illegal aliens need better writing. So far the whole ink blotter in the eye thing is stupid and in no way do I look forward to seeing them; quite the opposite.

Why is it that Hiro can use the part of his powers that stops time without any problem what so ever, but isn't even trying the time travelling part..

I am guessing that the eye thing is somehow tied to the Catholic claims of various statues of Mary weeping tears of blood.

According to the commercial I recently saw it looks like Sylar will be back this monday. What the heck... I thought season 2 was supposed to be a lot of new characters and a new story? I think it's lame he wasn't defeated at the 'big battle' at the end of season 1.

No.. Kinda figured he was alive (which is lame) more annoyed that he's back in the show when I was under the impression that Season 2 was an all-new storyline with mostly all new characters when so far that doesn't seem to be the case. I hope his character has changed in some way because if it's just the same ole "Everyone vs Sylar" this season that will be rather boring. The character is just too powerful really. Yeah yeah he's the ying to Peter's yang blah blah blah. I guess I can actually wait a couple episodes to see how it works out before complaining too much.

I heard somewhere, possibly in the other thread, that Sylar will only be in a handful of episodes this season, and should be done away with soon. He is the next Spock or some shit in the new Star Trek movie, so he can't be in it for too long.

He's in a few episodes, then gone for a majority of the season, then he comes back near the end. This is from Tim Kring, the creator of the show. I believe the interview was in Entertainment Weekly, but it could have been TV guide. They both ran issues dealing with Heroes for the same week.

NOOOOOOO
HRG can't die, he's so badass.
I'm getting pretty tired of the five minute storylines per character. Let's focus on two or three people each episode, so we can actually get into what is going on in their lives. Right now, it feels like a soap opera in terms of face time.
Now that the brother and sister are in a car, let's hope they magically drive the rest of the way to America so we don't have to waste time on their storyline.

Peter's storyline seems more interesting now what we've seen the "symbol" on the arm of his new Irish squeeze.

Looks like flyboy will be one of the "good guys" and Mr Bennett is a baddie. Don't like flyboy but Bennett as a bad guy works better.

I guess the "you look like ass" guy didn't care too much about being "black eyed".

Hiro's storyline is the least interesting to me.

Seems like everyone's working for someone else or being duped at the moment except for the Cop.

Kinda slow episode but I'm enjoying the series still.

Did I miss something? Why do you think Mr. B is a baddie? The neck tattoos on the "Heroes" were done by the company (Mr. B and the Haitian) in the past, but he is betraying them. Claire might not know her dad did that, but it was part of what they did (tag and release, with Molly as the "finder"). Maybe I went to the bathroom at the wrong time.

So wouldn't Bennett already know about the flyboy dude? He acted like he didn't when he saw him...there's the possibility that Bennett's using Flyboy to watch over Claire.

If not, a Haitian mind wipe of Flyboy is imminent!

In the painting, Claire (I think it was her anyway) was seen kissing someone in the background while her father lay dead with a bullet to the eye. Could it be that Capt. Emo Fly Boy is the one taking out the others? Makes me think of The Watchmen.

I'm just posting this to say I hate you all.

I'm still trying to get through Season 1 on DVD and have my DVR racking up the episodes still to watch. If only I didn't get my wife interested in the damn show I would have been up to speed, but she made me "wait" to watch episodes with her and then said she wanted to go back and watch ones she missed.

Enjoy it, maybe I'll be caught up by the end of this season.

Sigh...

Morgyrm, I like that idea. The kid in the hoodie who killed Hiro's father seemed tiny, about Emo-dude's height. That would answer how he was able to push George Takei off the roof and manage to disappear.
But, if that's the case, how do you explain Mrs. Petrelli getting the shit kicked out of her in the police station? That was a weird moment, and it certainly didn't match up to Hooded Sweatshirt killing her.
Too many questions and not enough progress. Come on, writers!

Could be the kid is another "super" super like peter / sylar and has been around for decades. Yeah, I am reaching here, but what if he had illusion powers like the newly dead psycho; phase powers like DL, Inviso powers like the angry inviso guy, and possibly something else. That could explain it...but it would be kind of stupid. Perhaps a simple partner.

:!: hmmm, glad I didn't give an episode recap this week! I had to watch this episode late last night due to the MNF game.

I still think Mr Bennett's a bad guy although it's just a hunch at this point.

BTW, here's the best H E R O E S forum:

http://thetenthwonder.com/forum/index.php

It's the 10th Wonder Podcast site. Someone on that site said the tattoo morphed into the company logo of Peter's father before fading.

stranger things have happened though, the box over the fire being the worst. my roommate and i screamed at the tv when that was happening "FUCK IT PETE JUST OWN THEM ALL!"
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when they did that shit with the fire, but as you can see from the most recent episode (prior to the heist), Peter hasn't completely regained control over his powers. He doesn't even remember most of them (or the people he acquired them from).

I was just waiting for Peter to yell "LIGHTNING BOLT!"

To be honest this season is boring the socks off me.

In the last episode Sylar was on, what looked like an island (but I guess it could have been the jungle), and this episode he's lying in the middle of the road where the wonder twins just happen to be driving by.

Molly character/story? /yawn

Newest ability? Oh I learn stuff from watching TV.

And the stupid "sound cues" are annoying.

I can only hope it will get better in the near future.

Yeah, that.

I find myself only watching it when I've gone through the rest of the shows I've got recorded on the DVR.. maybe by Wednesday or so. Really couldn't care much less about the show at this point.
