I predict that the first, second, and third movies will be good, but when they introduce Luclin it's going to ruin the franchise!IGN Movies reports that Sony Pictures and former Marvel Studios honcho Avi Arad are teaming to bring the 3D online fantasy game "EverQuest" to the big screen.
The studio is apparently setting up the project for a 2009 or 2010 tentpole release. Michael Gordon ("300") has been tapped to pen the screenplay.
EverQuest takes place in the fantastical world of Norrath -- a realm inhabited by 14 different races including humans, ogres, elves and animal-human hybrids -- and its moon Luclin. Other planes of reality also exist within the game's universe. Players create avatars that can slay monsters, embark on quests or acquire treasure.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, the fantasy epic will be based on an original pitch by Gordon and will feature some seminal characters from the game.

Well the screen writer is the same guy from 300, so I have some hope.
I really think this could have a chance. Maybe it could be a 2 parter involving Inny and Cazic fighting karana. Or maybe give Mistmoore some time. Just as long as they dont put in Veeshan yet.

The only way I'll pay money to see this is if their's a gnome cleric that chains Celestial Healing.
And Electric Funstuff has to do the soundtrack.

I want to see a hot dark elf character in the movie wearing ass pants that turns out to be a man.
Megan Fox can play the role. Just give her some spock ears!
----------
Actually, EQ does have some lore to work with. If they stick to pre Luclin, I think it would be fun. They'd need some serious special effects to pull off a Guk dungeon scene.
I would crack up is the story opened up with some kid running around killing rats with dreams of high adventure.
A storyline leading up to a Fear raid and attack on Cazic (bind rush!) would be a nice opening movie for a trilogy ending perhaps in Velious in Temple of Veeshan...or Veeshan's Temple...or even Sleepers Tomb.
...just keep Luclin out of the picture and there are some possibilities for fun movies with nemesis development, if not character development. They'd have to create some characters you somehow cared for to make it a series.

Does Everquest suck so much that some of you won't even consider watching a movie based on it? It doesn't even have a screenplay yet; no plot, no characters, no actors! This could be the greatest film in the history of cinema! ...Or it could suck or just be ok. Atleast wait for the previews!

Hmmm, would the trilogy end with the Sleeper doing things it wasnt supposed to, killing everyone in 2 zones and then poof?

If they want to keep the female characters true to how they were in the game, they will all have to be played by porn stars. Which could actually end up helping it, lol!Hesten wrote:Wonder if the clothes the females wear in EQ will actually stay on without glue
Re: Coming to Theaters: Everquest
Well, that would depend on the porn star. I swear i will kill someone if Everquest - The Movie have Paris Hilton starring as Firiona Vie. On the other hand, it could then have The Rock starring as some braindead barbarian, that might be a good match actuallyFunkmasterr wrote:If they want to keep the female characters true to how they were in the game, they will all have to be played by porn stars. How boring is the part about camping for Journeyman boots going to be????????
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. Ya, unlike every movie ever made
Re: Coming to Theaters: Everquest
Yeah but the opening scene where five guilds make a mad dash for Zordak Ragefire and the ensuing pulverization of Nagafen in five seconds should make for and exciting start!Tyek wrote:How boring is the part about camping for Journeyman boots going to be????????
You have to picture the beginning of the movie Conan where the sorcerer is talking about the days of high adventure, and then picture a America West Airlines commercial making fun of Soutwest Airlines where everyone is piling into the plane without assigne seating although in this case piling into Nagafen's Lair. After the 2 minute narration build up, we see Nagafen spawn and die almost instantly, being hit by double the damage necessary to kill him before a shaman can get off a Turgurs.
After that, the character development for the story can begin in North Freeport near the bank with our young clueless hero decked out in Rubicite.

Yes, this movie feels a bit late!
If it was released 6 years ago, i know many who would've gone to the cinema to watch it but now....
-
Either way i want to see the main focus of the movie either the Kromzek - Coldain - Dragon conflict on Velious or A brave group/guild of people standing up against Cazic or Innoruuk, making a stand!
Hell, even the Venril Sathir-conflict in Karnors Castle would be enjoyable.
But no Luclin-stuff plz
I say keep it to vanilla EQ - Kunark at most!

Would do well as a comedy, tying in all the jokes from over the years... otherwise... no clue.
Perhaps the most pirated movie ever? Half don't want to be seen seeing it, the other half is too afraid to leave their rooms still.

Re: Coming to Theaters: Everquest
This could work so long as they don't try to fit in every aspect of EQ into one movie. AD&D did this and the movie sucked. Well the movie sucked anyhow for many other reasons but the biggest was that they felt it had to be epic when they should have just kept the scope small.
If they could make it about a single adventuring group or guild they could make the movie into a series or at least a trilogy. I don't remember enough about the lore to have any ideas of what is in store. I could be cool. I'll see it. In a matinee.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable, let's prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all. - Douglas Adams
Re: Coming to Theaters: Everquest
I think the movie should start by promissing the first 100 people that make it to the front of the theater a free Ipod but first have the crowd build up to a few thousand people and then let them all go at once.....but instead of double doors have them push their way into a foot and a half door that really leads them back out of the theater to the back of the line.
That would be a pretty good start to the movie

Re: Coming to Theaters: Everquest
Have the theater take money but keep the moviegoers in the lobby for an extra 30 minutes after the start time, explaining that the camera isn't functioning. Let them in after 30 minutes but play the first 15 minutes of the movie in slow motion and then reset the movie to the beginning and play full speed. If they really want to be true to the game, they could wander through the theater, randomly booting people out to the lobby for a few minutes and after returning to their seat, they find their coke and popcorn is gone.

Re: Coming to Theaters: Everquest
If it were deftly directed/produced then I would love to see a trilogy starting with a pre-expansion storyline that evolves Nagafen/Vox. The second film would involve Kunark as it would continue the journey for the main heroes as well as setup more background for the dragons of Norrath. The third film would end with The Sleeper and perhaps show a bit of the other intricacies involved in Velious . That's probably too epic as far as production can handle, but IF it could be pulled of well and feature even a fraction of what I described it could be really fun.

Would be weird seeing a bunch of adventurers (20+ people, some are waiting on their turn) sitting and waiting in Najena and then fighting to be able to remove the boots from the lass.
Or an epic struggle of 6 brave heroes fighting an evil sorceress in a splendiferous display of effects and fireworks just to see one of them remove her boots.
