Bioshock, Buy or Rent?

Pretty much says it. Is there really enough content to buy the game, or should I just rent it?

I played it for probably 15ish hours, without a single spoiler and while achieving like 38 or 39 out of the 50 achievements. I could have easily gotten one or two more of those if I had cared to spend 15 minutes running around instead of just going to what was obviously the end of the game.

I'll probably play through it again, but it's not something that I couldn't have rented for a couple weeks and saved $50 on.

The flip side being that when an imersive and entertaining game comes out people should buy so that more good games are created.

I'm not excited about spending money on these 360 games after spending $500 on the system itself, but thats a personal issue as I'm pretty bad with my money.

I rented bioshock locally and I love it, just returned it today after work. I wish I were able to easily support the developers of such a fine piece of work. I guess renting it does, in some small fashion, but not as much as I believe this game deserves. I'm now renting it again from gamefly, and I'll keep it until I finish it at least once. It's remarkable and I can't remember another game with such an intriguing and immersing first person story.

I voted Rent It, even though I have not played it. You can at least see if the game is for you that way, and you always have the option to buy it. I have done that with several games lately. It has also saved my wallet from some really crappy purchases.

I agree with Sylvus. It's about 15 hours to get through it, and though it's an amazing, exciting game, I felt that toward the end it was very monotonous and I just wanted to get through it. Normally I don't even like games of this style, but the story combined with the environment and the associated influences (Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged/Objectivism as an example) is so well done as to merit playing through it. I bought it and don't regret it, but if you have 15 hours straight to play through it renting it might be a better way to go.

Buy it if you can afford it. 15 hours in this game worth 45 hours in most others.

I know most people will lean toward online multiplayer games as the ones to own but this one is a nice showcase game for your system (360 or PC) to load up when people that aren't into gaming wonder what it's all about.

It's a shame that so much work has to go into a quality single player storyline game that only lasts 15 hours. It makes it hard for game developers to dedicate their time creating masterpieces instead of cranking out less creative games that will still sell 75% as many copies but take half the time.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Bioshock II will have a multiplayer option so that might be the one to buy to get more total hours of entertainment out of.

Buy it if you can afford, rent it if you want. EBay and used copies at your local game shop will have this game at a premium for a coule of years for sure.

On the flip side, if you buy you can be sure you'll get at least 50-60% of the money you pay on a tradein towards another title.

Well, I voted rent. Even the best FPS games are only fun for a little while unless the online is exceptional. Once you know the story and where all the cool stuff happens, it's hard to sit through them for another round.

Bioshock is getting some amazing reviews, but if you can beat in in a weekend it's still a rental in my book.

I voted buy, definitely. I know that there isn't online, which takes away from the game for a lot of people, but for me that doesn't matter so much because I always have plenty of games to play online.

I am the type of person that will play through the game on every difficulty if I like it, so the replay value is fairly high.
