Agreed. I don't follow Nugent, so I didn't know he was such a right-wing fanatical. While I agree it is free speech and he should have every right to say what he said, I just think he is an asshole.

While I agree that Ted's become a bit of a loon in the last few years, He's known for a lot more than Cat Scratch Fever.

He's had numerous hits both solo and with the Amboy Dukes (sp?) Double Live Gonzo has some great tunes on it.

Yup, his roots with the 'Dukes in the 60s, not to mention his headlining solo career in the 70s make him one of the most notable and popular rock guitarists from that era. Hi song, Stranglehold from the end credits of Dazed and Confused may ring a bell for some. His career took a downslide when he collaborated with Tommy Shaw and those other 80s people about 15 years ago?

Anyways, I have heard some intelligent interviews from him, but more and more he is "protecting" 2nd Amendment rights by blindly supporting every other thing the far-right stands for...that or he is just as far-right as the others. I think he may have gone a bit crazy at some point--liked him much better when he was the Motor City Madman...

Bow hunting and/or liking guns does not a redneck make. There are plenty of rednecks that do/own neither, as well as plenty of white collar professionals that own guns or hunt. That being said, Ted has been kind of whacked for a long time and has just about hit the far right wall.

Exactly. It is not fair nor accurate to compare bow hunting or firearm hunting to redneckdom. Obviously many have strong feelings about hunting, but that belongs in another thread.

I always cringed to hear Ted get political, but that video was way over the line and creepy/loony.
