Packers Scrimmage

Post by Bubba Grizz »

I don't know how it is in other football cities across the nation but we just had a Family Night where the Packers had a scrimmage to show off what they have for us next year. It is hard to gauge how well or bad they are because you know they aren't going full speed and some of the starters didn't play. They look alright over all. Even Favre looked great barring that one INT in the endzone.

But that is not why I am posting. What I am posting about is the fact that we had over 60,000 people at a SCRIMMAGE! That is pretty damn insane. The town was acting just like this was a regular season game. People parking on lawns and vendors out in force. The only thing different was that there were no scalpers. For $8 a ticket there is no need. Also, I was able to get a good look at the new defensive Barricade that the NFL demanded be placed around the stadiums this year. They look pretty nice and blend in with the structure.

I looked pretty good in third grade French except for that F I received.

Favre must go!

Did little Brett cry after the scrimmage? He's vary emo.

At least the Packers were able to scrape out an 8-8 record in the pathetic NFC. I can't believe a Cardinals fan even wants to open up that can of worms.

Yup. Although Cards fans are probably already discussing what uniform to put on their Leinart - HoF Edition - 12" dolls. Back to GB, I am obviously no fan of Packers or Farve, but I think he gives his team the best chance to win. When he goes, fans will be fondly recalling that wonderful 8-8 season. If they want to get back on track, they are going to need to do much more than usher Brett out the door.

This is the year for the Cardinals although I'll save the details for the mega thread.

Cardinals new coach Ken Whisenhunt from the Steelers looks to be in the same mold as his mentor and Alan Branch out of Michigan is playing like a 1st rounder even though we stole him at the top of the second.

I'm predicting a winning record at 9-7 for the Cardiac Cards as the Offensive line is much improved.

Here is the problem with the Cardinals.....they are the CARDINALS. Your team, as usual, will find ways to lose and blow a season. You could have Peyton Manning and the 1995 Dallas Cowboy line blocking and you would still find a way to come in at 7-9 and miss the playoffs. It is not any one thing that makes you suck.....your whole franchise is just a giant hoover.

In all reality, the entire Phoenix area is just a bunch of northern retirees and relocating Canadians. There is no real energy there that would be comparable to almost any other NFL city. I mean really....has that team ever performed since it moved from St Louis?

LOL

Since they moved to Phoenix, they have won 9 games in a season ONCE. Stellar.

Combined record since moving: 95-187

I will say this though....they have managed to finish as high as 2nd once in that time frame. Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Division Champion Arizona Cardinals walk into a bar.......

It's too fucking hot here to cheer and get rowdy at games! You people back east need to do that just to stay warm and it's mistaken for enthusiasm.

I can't debate the Cardinals being bad. Bill Bidwell is the worst owner in any sport. Denny Green sucked as well but he did manage to draft some decent players and we've been stockpiling talent for a few years now. It looks like the new coach is down to earth and all business so things may be shaping up...nothing special, just maybe a winning season.

Packer fans are great. My grandma used to skip Thanksgiving dinner if they were playing.
My mom wears her cheese head and uniform to hand out Halloween candy every year (she lives in Alabama now so people are just confused by her).
Every piece of my sister's clothing has a Packer emblem on it somewhere, as do most of her personal posessions.
My dad is a traitor though, last year he sold his season tickets that were passed down to him by my Grandpa and have been in the family since before I was born. Though my last visit to my dad of course included a trip to the renovated stadium and Packer Hall of Fame.

Agreed and agreed, that's why we kicked him to the curb and didn't let him have his way when he whined about not getting a new stadium in St. Louis and he took his ball and left for Phoenix. (Which was a great thing for us now considering the Rams have been to the Super Bowl twice since moving to STL.)

The economics of the game and the city in the late 80s really weren't compatible to build a new football only stadium, as Busch II was still in its prime and the team was so terrible the city/area wouldn't support the cost.

Get rid of him/family ownership and your team might actually change. The Cardinals do have great new digs though, too bad it took since moving there to get out of playing at ASU :)

I thought letting season tix leave a family was a hangin' o-fence in Green Bay...
