I loved it, personally. It was dark and somber, and it did very well adapting to the book. Of course, some elements were changed a bit, but it fit with the movie very well. Considering it had to take the longest book of the series and fit it into about 2 hours or so, it worked. For me, the movies just get better and better I think. Some people will disagree with me, but oh well I'm super excited about the next book coming out, and I think the anticipation of that made the movie all the more better for me. The special effects were amazing too!
Um, I must go see it again.

Zoe: No one's gonna force you to go, Jayne. As has been stated -- this job's strictly speculative. Jayne: Good. Cause I don't know these folks, don't much care to. Mal: They're whores. Jayne: I'm in.
A bunch of us from work went to the midnight screening. (We all work at the bookstore so we wanted to go and get ideas for next Fridays release party - plus we just enjoy the films and books). We had a lot of fun - though just over an hour into the movie the screen went black and the lights suddenly came on in the theatre (guess someone hit a button by mistake or something LOL). Five minutes later the film resumed.
It was the longest book and the shortest movie to date. But a good portion of the book was kind of filler stuff and Harry being all grumpy and such so a lot of that was left out of the film version. They did leave a lot of the important stuff in - for example - Snape teaching Harry to shield his mind and Harry accidentally invading Snape's memories and seeing how his father and friends would pick on Snape as a teenager.
I wish the battle at the ministry of magic (the kids parts) were a little longer - they did it differently than the book. I really enjoyed the battle scene with Voldemort and Dumbledore. I thought the effects were really good. Helena Bonham Carter was a great choice as Bellatrix and the part of Umbridge was perfect.
my girlfriend is an enormous harry potter fan so ive seen them all but this is the first one i've seen in theatres. this is the only one i actually enjoyed throughout.. very well done. a suprisingly dark movie and the PG13 rating is not a shocker once you see it. There were little brats being dragged out of the theatre by upset white christian parents for the entire showing, fantastic.
amazing effects and none of the complete cheesy lameness that ripped apart the other movies for me
I TOLD YOU ID SHOOT! BUT YOU DIDNT BELIEVE ME! WHY DIDNT YOU BELIEVE ME?

Haven't seen this one yet, but I have read all the books and they get better and better as they go on. Much darker and way more aimed at adults (imo) with each book. I think you'll like the next two movies as well.

This entire series has actually matured right along with it's inital audience. It's a very odd and compelling if you think about it. Harry Potter is a legacy to an entire generation, and that is pretty cool IMO.
I had Star Wars, and it seems there will be a generation with cultural ties to both Harry Potter and LoTRs due to the excellent movie series for each one. I mean, you have to remember what it was like to be a kid, and imagine what Harry Potter would've meant to you.
Saw it the other night with my daughter and we both loved it. It could very easily be the best one yet in our opinions. They left out a good bit of fluff, but there was enough of that to go around in the book. The next one should be even darker and the new book comes out very soon. I know she has said that this will be the last in the series but hopefully it continues with seperate trilogies or something like that of the new grads.
Probably my most favorite movie adaptation of the potter books so far. Like stated, the parts left out and/or changed were done much better than most book to movie adaptations. The flow of the movie is perfect. It just starts, and doesn't stop till the credits.
I was very skeptical of this movie being any good, considering the size of the book vs. the shortest potter movie made yet. But it was pulled off perfectly.
Me and some friends also participated in Dorks Night Out and went to a midnight showing followed by a few hours at IHOP before work started Wednesday AM.

Hehe "Dorks Night Out." Need to remember that one. Haven't seen the movie yet, but will for sure this weekend.

I'm having a hard time getting through the first 15-20 minutes of this movie.
So far, it seems to have lost its charm as I've enjoyed every other Harry Potter movie so far. I think maybe the actors outgrew their roles or something.
The beginning is very similar to the book in that nobody seems to want to say wtf is going on. The reason for all of the confusion plays out during the movie (and book).
