I don't know that I'd consider this a spoiler, but just incase, I think one of the biggest WHAT THE FUCKS I had was Devastator. I mean this guy was fucking badass, he was 6 fucking Decepticons put together, not the formula 5 that later came with every other form up Transformer. I understand that they couldn't do all the same vehicles etc anymore, but come on, he was definitely 6 guys forming 1 badass, who clearly wasn't a badass in this.

Did anyone else see Jar Jar Binks?

At the end of this day, one shall stand, one shall fall. SOOOOO GOOOD /fanboy off

Watched this today. Wasn't all that impressed. It was cool, don't get me wrong, but it didn't capture and amaze me as some epic film of the ages.

I was disappointed, it was ok but I was hoping for a better movie. To much lame humor and robot stupidity aimed at kids to make them laugh......which would be fine if the movie was aimed just for kids but IMO it was to violent in parts for smaller kids that would like that humor. I guess to me it seemed like they couldnt figure out if they where making a 'kid' flick or an action flick

Even though I loved the movie, the entire part with the Autobots outside Sam's window made me want to punch whoever wrote it. While I laughed at the entire Sam/Parents talk, "My bad" and "Ooops" while stepping on shit in the yard was fucking retarded.

As much as I didn't like Bumblebee in the cartoon, I'd have to agree with what Legenae said, I was actually kinda sad about him maybe dying. Ofcourse, a few minutes later, Jazz gets ripped in fucking half.

I liked it, but it was a little campy in some places.

That's just how Michael Bay rolls though, I guess.

Michael Bay tried to reach as huge audience as possible, young kids and older, with Transformers. That's just how Michael rolls, all the way to the bank.

If Cameron had made it, it would be darker and more violent! Just like i've wanted it! :D

If you ask me, keep all the action-scenes and remove all the highschool-scenes a la Sam/Mikaela, Anthony "Comic Relief" Anderson and the hackers, Sam-Parents-Hide n Seek-scenes and use that time for character development and more robot time.

Bonecrusher had a great scene in slow-mo. Blackouts scene in the beginning was great. Skorponok (albeit small) had a good scene but should have been even more resistant to human weaponry.

Starscream had a great scene though vs US AF.

Devastator should have pulverized at least two-three autobots.

Devastator was one of my gripes. They could have put any other fucking name on that tank and i'd have been ok. In fact there even was a triple changer who was like plane/tank/robot that would have worked. But fucking devastator was 6 robots who fucking formed one badass. I know obviously a bunch of forms changed because certain car manufacturers wouldn't jump on, but come on heh.

Exactly, he [bay] could have changed Brawls name to anything else, but THE Devastator.
Guess Bay thought the name was cool and was fitting for a Tank.

Devastator was legendary with brutish strength and nothing two-four autobots could handle like that.

Devastator dwarfed most of them all and he had STR 10 fercrissakes! 8)

I think it's fucking awesome you can find that shit lol. Maybe it's another sore spot because out of all the transformers I had, the 2 I kept were Optimus Prime and Devastator. One sits on my computer desk and the other on top of my dresser. I was quite surprised when my girlfriend recognized names and said, "Is that right?"

Overall, incredible movie. You just have to remember that the movie was made with the audience in mind. Some of the dialogue was and plot devices were juvenile, but that's okay. In anticipation of seeing this movie, I watched some of the old cartoons online and the same was true...we were just too young to see through it. But even the silly scenes were sometimes hilarious.

Bay pushed the limits of pg-13. There was lots of profanity and intensity. I guess he managed the pg-13 rating by not showing Megan Fox nekky (grr...) and only implying deaths of humans, but not really showing them. In the end, he succeeded in thoroughly entertaining me though (so much so that I'm posting in this forum about it!). The audience I was a part of was incredibly diverse and yet everyone walked out laughing and quoting the movie.
[Show]
The beginning action scene(s) were fabulous. Blackout and Scorponok vs. U.S. millitary was intense...and I liked how Bay included non-conventional military vehicles for the fight. You very rarely see A-10 Thunderbolts (Warthogs/Tank-killers) in movies. They're not as sleek as the faster jets, but they have always been my personal favorite. Their sheer power makes them awesome. Also, the USAF gunship that they used (looked like a C130?) was a change from the usual Tomahawk firing F-14's. Whoever they got for the military consulting did a good job of showing us cool stuff we hadn't seen before.

My biggest gripe about the movie isn't that it was goofy or unbelievable. I was unimpressed with the parts that seemed like GM commercials. I can understand the politics/economics behind it, but some parts felt so much like commercials that they took me out of my suspended-disbelief mode and brought me back to the real world...movies shouldn't do that.

I have mixed feelings about some of the choices they made with the cars. I was actually okay with Bumblebee as a Camaro. I was skeptical at first, because Bumblebee's self-esteem issues didn't seem to fit with the classic 'strong' personality of one of America's great muscle cars. But Bay pulled it off well, giving the character a lovable personality (think: the aliens in 'Explorers'..one of my favorite 'kid' movies) and a nice makeover half way through. The best part about Bumblebee being a Camaro was that it presented the opportunity to bring back a classic American rivalry between it and the Ford Mustang. I don't know about you guys, but the chase and fight scenes between Bumblebee and Barricade were just spine-tingling.

Jazz as a Pontiac Solstice didn't sit well with me. First of all, this made him smaller than Bumblebee! He was a puny runt in this movie and that's not how I remember Jazz at all. Also going from Porsche to Solstice is a huge downgrade. I can't think of any GM cars that fit the mold of small-sports-car-but-one-tough-mofo, so I guess the Solstice was their best choice. But this just makes me hate GM more...why don't they make more sports cars?! By the way, the Corvette is out because other autobots have that as their alternate already...

The other autobots were fine with me. Optimus as a Peterbilt is a good move. When it comes to toughness in semi trucks, two companies stand out in my mind: Mack and Peterbilt. Some die hard transformers fans were pissed that they didn't use a 'cabover' model like he used to be. But cabovers irl are pretty gay looking, so no love lost from me there.

As for the Decepticons, my biggest beef is with Devastator as others have said. I mean WTF. My second biggest beef was the fact that they didn't have Soundwave... The primary reason given was that there are just no tape-decks anymore, but wtf, they used a CD player! And the CD player character was Frenzy, who used to be one of Soundwave's tapes!!! Decepticons without Soundwave is like Star Trek: TNG without Data...it should never have been done.

Unlike the cartoons, Starscream in the movie was a total and utter badass. He was my favorite Decepticon by leaps and bounds, even though I hated him in the cartoons for being such a whiny bitch. I mean Megatron beat some ass to be sure, but Starscream's big scene made me wanna cheer for him.

I loved the movie. This is coming from someone who has never really watched the old cartoons or movies. I don't know the characters other than Megatron or Optimus. I guess Bay was trying to target my crowd as well. Shia is one of the funniest young actors right now, even if he really only has one style. I'm glad to see him getting a big role. Megan Fox is a fox. When she was checking the engine, jesus. The CGI was beyond insane. The realism mixed with Bay's sense of camera angles made you really feel like you were in the middle of it.

I greatly enjoyed the movie despite virtually every transformer being different than the originals. I thought I was going to have more problems with Bumblebee not being a VW Beetle than I did, but in the end I think it worked.
Overall it worked, and I'll buy this when it hits HD or Blu-ray

I actually enjoyed the first half more than the second. Pretty sure it had something to do with Megan Fox, and that sweaty sheen she seemed to have on her body through most of the film. The action in the second half was fun to watch of course, but some of it was so hokey my friend and I kept laughing to eachother and saying "wow that's was just bad". I kinda went into this expecting popcorn fare, but hopin for more based off what I saw in the trailer. I got what I expect from a Bay film: some popcorn fare, some laughably bad dialogue, and numerous corny situations mixed in with spectacular action sequences. I'll pass on the DVD.
[Show]
Ex: The special forces guy sliding 30 yards on his back while blowing up Devastator's nuts was hilarious. Megan Fox towing Bumblebee around after having an obviously oscar-worthy `emotional' scene had me rolling my eyes. The way the autobots kept flipping around circque du soleil style like they're in the fuckin Matrix I found pointless most of the time. The soda pop machine suddenly turning into an evil killing machine had me laugh out loud. /shrug I could add more, but you should get the point by now.

I was talking with a co-worker about the dumping of the destroyed Decepticons into the ocean at the end of this movie, and they reminded me about them having the underwater base in the cartoons (or was it comics?). I had forgotten about that even though I felt the dumping, rather than melting, had set up the sequel. Starscream flying out of atmosphere during the credits did that as well.

From Wikipedia, which quotes various articles:
On May 30, 2007, Dreamworks greenlit two sequels to Transformers, and Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Peter Cullen signed on to return. Producer Tom DeSanto has envisioned a storyline introducing the Dinobots, the Constructicons, and Soundwave. Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman may not return, as "Star Trek... is taking up kind of all of our time." Michael Bay has not signed on, "trying to keep some leverage for the negotiations", but already has ideas, including an aircraft carrier character.
