Must have PS2 games?

Hi all.

Since im so ahead of the times, and always need the newest technology, i just bought a PS2 (yeah, i dont like consoles, but too many PS1/PS2 games now that i wanna play).

So i need reccomendations of all the really must have games for the PS2
So far i bought Final Fantasy 12 (playing that at the moment, great game), God of War 1, and Psychonauts (own the PC version, but great game, want it on PS2 too, and was cheap).

I dont normally play sport or driving games, unless its something REALLY special, and only play fighting games if they got some REALLY great story (like Jade Empire, but got that on PC), but need a few good 2 player fighting games for when friends stop by

I know i need to buy or download the following (yes, cant buy Katamari in europe so download required:(, and own bought versions of several of the games on PC alread)
Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 (got LSW2 PC version)
Katamari Damacy and sequels
God of War 2
Guitar Hero 1 and 2 (need to buy GH2 original for the guitar )
Beyond Good and Evil (got the PC version)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (got the PC version)


I checked out Gamespot to see what games they rated really high, and plan to check out the following games:
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
Bully
Okami
Prince of Persia - Sands of Time
Prince of Persia - Warrior Within
Prince of Persia - The 2 Thrones
Final Fantasy X
Champions of Norrath
Shadow Hearts
Shadow Hearts Covenant
The Thing
Tomb Raider: Anniversary
Metal Slug Anthology
Destroy All Humans


Can anyone reccomend any other great PS2 games, or maybe give inputs about the ones i have looked into?

Get Kingdom Hearts 1 before hand. It's a really great story that sets up the second one (though it's not imperative) and is just as good as the second one, and takes a lot longer to beat. And it should be real cheap now.

I had a lot of fun with Champions of Norrath. It's a Diablo type game.

FFX is my favorite game on the PS2.

Also, when you say there are "too many PS1/PS2 games" that you want to play, have you never owned a PS1 either? If that's the case, it would broaden the list a bit~

Nope, my first console since my game boy back in the OLD days . So ill take suggestions to good PS1 games too . Just passing on driving, sports, and sneaking style games .

No PS1 game sticks out in my mind like Final Fantasy Tactics.

I've put more hours into it than any other console game. For the most part, I never replay RPGs, but I've gone through FFT at least 4 or 5 times over the years. It has a fantastic story, engaging characters, excellent gameplay (assuming you're not ADD that is, the battles can be quite long), etc. It's only fault would be the occasional translation error. Names and places will sometimes be misspelled or improperly used in the text, but you can typically figure out the intended meaning with a little thought.

If you have any interest in tactical RPGs, you will definitely want to try it.

Bushido Blade was a really fun fighting game, but I think it was for PS1 - Can't remember.

Basically it's 1x1 3D sword fighting, but you have no health bar, instead you don't lose until your opponent scores a fatal hit on you. You use weak attacks to set up the big ones, so there's a lot of strategy involved. Blocking sets your opponent off balance so you can have a chance to land a big one on them too.

Had lots of fun with it back in the day, and if memory serves, graphics weren't that bad for PS1.

When Tekken 6 is released, i'll prolly get a new console to play online against the pros over the world.
