I'm in Spain at the moment and I've been laughing at whole debacle in between burning myself to a crisp.

That picture is fucking priceless. Karma is great. Anyone who defends her is a fucking idiot, now if only she'd commit suicide in this next stint in jail, I'd be overjoyed.

Too often it seems it is the peaceful and innocent who are slaughtered. In this a lesson may be found that it may not be prudential to be either too peaceful or too innocent. One does not survive with wolves by becoming a sheep.

Make up your mind. If I say it's the media, I'm a crack-pot conspiracy theorist. If I say the government to apease the Anti-Bush fuckos out there, I'm still a crack-pot conspiracy theorist. I think calling someone names, labeling them and so easily putting them in little boxes named crazy is the way most lemmings go, so they don't have to take a look at themselves.....and....wait for it...the bigger picture.

Samantha, I hate to break it to you, but this isn't some big political plot. This is entirely ratings driven by the media.

The newsworthy aspect of this story is a rich/famous person getting a different treatment than a less rich/less famous person. Justice is not supposed to work that way. That has now been corrected. That's the news part. The rest is all sensationalism that's pretty easy to shut off if you have your bullshit filter on.

There are certainly examples of wagging the dog by politicians (looking back at your posting history, you've bought into nearly all of them), but this isn't one of them. I'm sure there are some politicians out there that are glad this is dominating the media, because it's taking away some of the sting from whatever shit their involved in (HI Rep. William Jefferson!), but this was in no way orchestrated by the politicians or their henchmen.

The main reason I don't post more in this forum on 'Actual Issues' is because you and others have proven time and time again that you're incapable of participating in a logical discussion. You yourself are probably the biggest she-troll left on this forum.

So once again, you're wrong.

Who's Samantha?

There's nothing wrong with laughing at Paris Hilton's situation. She's an attention whore so it's her own fault she's in the spotlight no matter what she does. She can't turn off the spotlight just because things go bad.

When rich or powerful people don't have to serve the same sentences as poor people, they start to lose touch with reality. I don't care what the ultra rich do with their time. There's plenty of ways to do things to excess without breaking the law. Would a mother check to see what the income level was of the drunk driver that killed their child? (besides later for suing their ass) Would mom be OK with it if a wealthy person killed their child instead of a poor one because they never learned their lesson from paying the penalty of screwing up three times before? Doubt it.

Watch Scrubs on NBC or DVD. If you've never downloaded the first season, I'd recommend it. It's also worth buying.

I don't understand these dumb ass rich kids. If you need to party so bad, ask Daddy for a limo. Now you can be the biggest coke whore in the world, not kill anyone and hide your pantyless crotches in the tinted comfort of the back seat.
When I was younger, I used to think that the world was doing it to me and that the world owes me some thing…When you're a teeny bopper, that's what you think. I'm 40 now, I don't think that anymore, because I found out it doesn't f--king work. One has to go through that. For the people who even bother to go through that, most assholes just accept what it is anyway and get on with it." - John Lennon

So I just read this on people.com (bold mine):
Paris Hilton spent her first night alone in a room in a locked-down medical ward after suffering in jail what the sheriff called a deteriorating, life-threatening condition that left her speaking incoherently.
I'm curious what condition she could have that would be 'deteriorating and life-threatening' that the jail wouldn't be able to treat. I'm also curious how she can have a 'deteriorating life-threatening condition' that allows her to conduct the kind of lifestyle she has been leading for some time.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

Funny, but I'm not for liberating Paris. I'm for her having to serve her sentence. Just as I am for in every case. I just don't care about her any more than any other criminal.

Well, in general, for rich/powerful people, you should care that they serve their sentences because if they don't have to serve them, eventually they'll take away freedoms that they may still indulge in because they know they won't have to serve the time if they break the law. That's my main concern with Paris or any other influencial person due to money or power/political position.

For example, they may bust you for downloading "The Best Hooters of 2006" to look at while cutting kyoukan some slack because she's keeping some democrat congressman supplied with exclusive bestiality porn.

No. I'll just continue with my realistic outlook on life and not be caught in the bullshit these lemmings get caught up in. Rich and powerful people will always have more leeway than the rest of us. While this high-profile case of Paris was fought over the intarweb and other media outlets over the past week, dozens of rich and powerful kids got away with a crime. You think you've won something. You haven't won anything. Concentrate your efforts on bigger more important issues. Stop being so easily led down the path of the mindless. Go watch Idiocracy. You folks represent the beginning stages of what that movie depicts people turning into.

No Trek. I don't call you lemmings for having a different opinion. I share your opinion on her having to serve her time. I call you lemmings because you care so deeply in this one big publicized instanced. You are no different to me than they lemming assholes who flew flags on their cars after 911. You are just following the wave. Your outrage and concern over such a small non important issue is sad and misguided.

So in your oppinion anyone who does anything anyone else did or does is a lemming? I guess if people in NY or anywhere really wear one of those hats or shirts supporting NYPD/FD that came out post 9/11 are lemmings and also get your disdain? You are such a beacon of morality and virtue for looking down upon everyone who dares to discuss 'non-important' but fun issues..... /salute

What is an important issue? What is it about 911 that's analogous to Paris Hilton spending 45 days in jail? Was 911 a small non important issue?

I'm honestly confused-- I get the idea that if you're a patriot, you ought to be a patriot all the time and etc-- but I struggle to see what even that point has to do with Paris Hilton.

In Australia they call it the Tall Poppy Syndrome, and yeah, people are more interested in seeing Mid's "rich, powerful" mates get what's coming to them than yet another black guy getting 20 years for possession with intent to be a capitalist in the US. But do you know who coins these phrases? Rich, powerful, scumbags trying to make Mid happy that they aren't being brought to account, and happy that the police spend all their time on carefully crafted sting operations so that poor white trash can't be laid (for money), or high.

Naturally, buying into this ridiculous propaganda makes Mid the big picture man, and we're all a bunch of lemmings.

Midnyte:

If you reread my post, I was not asking you to provide me with a list of things that are more important than Paris Hilton going to jail. I asked you to flesh out the analogy that you explicitly drew between people caring about Paris Hilton being in jail and people buying American flag paraphenalia after 9/11. Your response was utterly nonsensical. I'd be happy to continue the conversation if you'd like to speak to something even remotely related to what I said.

It's you who needs to re-read. The sentence following the sentence where I mention 911 flag flyers, explains why.

This seems to be an appropriate time to mention that Paris, in a time-honored prison tradition, has found the Lord. I bet her dog will look sweet in a little pope suit.

So the similarity is that both were 'riding the wave?'

I'm a bit confused. I thought you were upset by the fact that people were focusing on trivial things, not by the fact that people were exercising some sort of conformity. But apparently I was wrong, you're upset by this sort of conformity per se, that is, you're upset when people move from not-caring-about-something to caring-about-something by virtue of some intervening bit of news that sparks others to have the same reaction.

So: you are criticizing those who care about Paris Hilton being in jail, analogizing to those who bought American flag paraphenalia after 9/11, and levelling the same criticism at both groups. Based on your repeated statements about how Paris is unimportant and we ought to be focusing on important things, I thought that you were missing the fairly basic point that Paris Hilton being in jail is an Unimportant Thing but 9/11 was an Important Thing. I see now that this is apparently not a distinction which matters to you; you are critical of 'wave-riders' no matter how valid their new perspective might be and no matter how important the intervening cause that gets them to ride the wave.

You would be a perfect songwriter for a shitty high school emo band. Everyone's conforming but me, wah wah.

If you would like to go back and clarify what you meant by the analogy, I'd be happy to hear it. In absence of such clarification, what I wrote above is a fairly accurate summary of what you communicated via your writing. If you disagree with my summary, then feel free to tell me what you actually meant to communicate, which is all that I was asking for in the first place.

Explain to me how I am not right in this situation. You said something fucked up about my RL pic that was posted in the RL pics thread, I bitched about it because frankly you were on my last nerve anyway and it just gave me something to fuck with you about.

I said something jokingly about a pic midnyte posted that I think any logical person here KNEW was not his RL pic and was NOT in the RL pic thread.

As painful as I am sure it will be for you, you just need to admit you made a stupid comparison and blame it on the combination of the Spain sun, shrooms, and liquor that i'm sure you have over divulged in recently.

Regardless sunshine, you're still the forum's number one twat, get over it. Everyone else has. Maybe if you indulged in some Spain sun, shrooms and liquor, you wouldn't be such a fucking misery to have to deal with.

Hilton's parents visit, raise questions

By RAQUEL MARIA DILLON, Associated Press WriterWed Jun 13, 9:12 AM ET

Paris Hilton's parents visited their daughter after breezing past others waiting to see loved ones — an incident that raised new complaints that the heiress is receiving special treatment.

The visit Tuesday came less than a week after Hilton was reassigned to house arrest days after being jailed for violating parole. The 26-year-old socialite and reality TV star was later ordered back to jail.

Alvina Floyd, one visitor to the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, waited more than four hours to visit her fiance. It normally takes two hours, and Floyd, 20, blamed the Hiltons for the delay.

"I have to be at work later," she said. "I can't wait here all day."

Shatani Alverson, 23, said she was hustled out of the jail's visiting room moments after her husband walked in because of the Hiltons. She was told to come back after lunch.

Steve Whitmore, a sheriff's spokesman, said it was routine for high-profile inmates to receive visitors during lunch, a time when the visiting room is normally cleared out and closed.

The visit came shortly after the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors ordered Sheriff Lee Baca to respond by next week to allegations of favoritism for reassigning Hilton to house arrest. At the time, Baca cited an undisclosed medical condition as the reason for making the decision.

Hilton was sent to a medical ward, where sheriff's officials said it costs $1,109.78 a day to house a female inmate compared with $99.64 a day in the general population.

Mary Tiedeman, who regularly visits the jails as a monitor for the ACLU, said the area where Hilton was being housed was usually reserved for high-security inmates or those worse off than Hilton has appeared.

"I don't know what her health issue is, but you have got to have a pretty intense medical or mental health problem to be in that part of the jail," she said.

Meanwhile, the Endeavor talent agency has dropped Hilton from its roster of clients, Michael Donkis, a spokesman for the company, said Tuesday.

"She is no longer a client," he said, declining further comment.

Hilton has been represented by the Beverly Hills-based agency since 2005.

speaking of what did Paris do to become famous in the first place? Was she a singer, actress, or model? Did that show she did on Fox get her famous?
