This morning my Bluebirds hatched 3 babies...two eggs left *crosses fingers*...
The parents are fine and I am supplying plenty of mealworms which the father assiduously delivers to the mother and babies...Between food deliveries he sits perched and puffed guarding against the villianous squirrels who used to use the fence behind the house as a highway...they've had to detour 60 feet south to the other fence to avoid a beating by a furious blue flurry...
I've also had 8 carolina wrens, half a dozen tufted titmice, a pair of chickadees, 3 Bluejays, one Downy Woodpecker and 43 billion Cardinals fledged and fed in the yard this spring...good year for baby birds it seems...
