I did just see on tv a little bit ago that she has been ordered to go back to court.. With any luck there was some shady shit involved and she is getting called on it.

Well, yeah. Just look at his history here. Staunch Republican with no real passionate or elsewise reason. Loved 'Titanic'. Seems to fall into the 'if it is popular and made a lot of money, it must be good!' category...yup, typical American and typical asshat.

AnnaMarie: The shame here is that you have no regard for Justice or the Principles this country was founded on.

If you don't want to make it personal then don't add your personal opinions to the conversations. They're generally so off-base we're left with nothing more than to attack the person.

um, noel...that's kind of stupid.

On subject, the "big picture" that matters here is that the law may not have been followed. It doesn't matter if the person being charged/convicted is rich or not. The law is the law. There are no stipulations that say if the defendant's income is over X / year, the punishment is D. I understand that Midnyte is saying that we must accept the rich being held to a different set of (lower) standards when it comes to punishment since we cannot change that, and that is the point I disagree with. It can, and should, be changed. If that means making poor Paris Hilton a figurehead for what "stars" should not be, so be it. Her conviction was not just about a DUI. Her conviction was based on her violating the original probation, apparently more than once. If she were a young black male from another part of LA, the time would have been much harsher. This is where the travesty of the entire situation comes in. Few seemed to care of the Olympic Bomber was losing his mind in Supermax when that thread was active, why should anyone care if reality has slapped Paris Hilton across the face?

It's not stupid at all.

On this board, if I state my *personal* opinion on a topic, and someone elects to call me stupid, wish I were dead, wish I would leave or whatever, that goes with the territory. The difference between myself and Francine here is that *I* don't take it personally, and don't really care about the dissenting opinions here. If someone wants to waste their time wishing I'm hit by a car, more power to them.

She's just trolling anyway. Feel free to participate in her playing the victim card though.

Does this issue shine any light on the conditions in these prisons? Do you have to be a hardened criminal to stay sane in such a place? Do we really have that hard of a time keeping these people separated and safe?

Fuck Paris, she should go back to jail and serve a full 23 days... she might learn her lesson.

I think you misunderstood my post. I only acknowledge the fact that Midnyte sees one truth in this situation. The rich get better treatment than the poor. That's it. I did not say I agree that it should be that way which he seems to be doing by addressing it as an acceptable norm.

Maybe stupid was too harsh of a word :P

Basically, I don't see the point in ever telling anyone that they cannot hold and share their opinion. If "we" cannot handle hearing opinions other than our own, we should not be allowed to share either. Nothing says we have to accept what a person says as a fact which must be incorporated into our lives beyond merely reading it on this board. If nothing else, it shows how different we all are. Hell, we can still call them names and laugh as they run off into a corner, but that doesn't mean they can't share!

That's not what I said at all.

She's complaining because his participation in the conversation is invariably leading to personal attacks. I'm simply stating that IF THEY BOTHER HER SO MUCH, she shouldn't participate. I totally disagree with virtually everything she says. That said, I'm not saying she shouldn't contribute them, I'm simply stating that if she CAN'T HANDLE the result, she shouldn't contribute them.

To add to the festive atmosphere, it's come out that the sheriff is a scientologist. I'm wondering if there was a large donation made, or if he was just fulfilling LRH's order to cater to celebrities...

Best part about the picture is the apparent smirk on the female police office in the passenger seat. Hard to tell with the window reflections but she looks quite pleased with her duty!

I was under the impression that the female passenger in the front seat was Paris's sister Nicole. I could be wrong. Doesn't look like she's wearing a police uniform.

Figures they'd try to spin it like she's being hurt or something.

wtf?
My friend's brother (who works with [Sheriff Lee] Baca's assistant sheriffs) told me that Paris was released due to a severe, "stress-induced" herpes outbreak. He also said that he heard that the blisters had apparently spread to her anus and had taken on abcess-like features that required more serious medical attention. Don't you just love kharma.

Go read more about Paris...I'm sure she's on the front page of every god damned periodical out there. I'm going to focus my attentions on something important.
Yeah...I'm angry.
I've had enough of this and if this is the end of the world, I'm going to go down swinging. Anyone with me is welcome to fight by my side.
Please open your eyes and absorb all that is happening. Global warming, WW3, a police state, everything you've been afraid of will come to pass unless YOU stand up and do something about it.
The government and people in power want you to be distracted by non-important matters. Anna Nicole Smith, Paris Hilton, Brangelina, are all distractions. They get you worked up in a lather over stupid things so you can't focus and prioritze on the real issues at hand. As this board proves everyday, it is working. Mindless masses. Bunch of fucking lemmings.

Get over yourself. This is great theater, dirty laundry, aired out in public view.

The real shock and awe is that I'm agreeing with Midnyte on his latest post. He's right. It's nothing more than distractions from real issues that people should be focusing on. And people eat it up. Quite sad really.

It's sad because people get more entertainment value out of hearing about this instead of hearing about bush and the dems cock blocking each other for the 500th time in the last week? I guess I am a sad man.

Nobody should confuse LA with reality. But just maybe, a corrupt politician will get bounced, and some good can come of it.

You said it not me.

But I was actually referring to the 'big picture' and not just this specific incident. The media always get hung up on stupid shit and don't report on the things that actually matter. Because there's no ratings ($) in that.

Ok...this is ridiculous! Everywhere I look I find another story about Paris like it's the end of the world because some useless socialite is going to jail for something she DID. Does anyone care about the real issues at hand? Do you know that the US is putting up a missile shield in Poland and it's totally pissing Russia off and straining our relationships with them? Does anyone care that Iran has called itself a "lion sitting in the corner" and warned us not to "pull the lion's tail" when we told them to discontinue uranium enrichment? Do you care that they have American-Iranian hostages that they refuse to turn back over to their families in the US, one of them a SCHOOL TEACHER from California? Does it matter that there are over 300 MILLION barrels in surplus of gas, a strike at a major refinery in Nigeria is over, two refineries that were closed for maintenance have re-opened in the US, yet gas prices are on the RISE??
Do you know that on June 15th, the RIAA is going to litigate forcing internet radio stations to pay HUGE sums of money estimated in the billions of dollars to the major labels (the artists won't see a dollar of this btw) forcing INTERNET RADIO TO SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD? NO MORE INTERNET RADIO AS OF JUNE 15TH!!!
Does anyone realize in our apathy, we're selling out our freedom and taking it in the ass because we feel like there's no other choice? Have you thought about that?
Who cares what Brad and Angelina are doing, unless it's something to stop hunger, raise awareness, or fight the fascists who are stealing our freedom right out from under our noses.

Yeah, yeah, very nice I'm sure. Tell him to read "The Gods Themselves" (Asimov), learn the lesson in that book, then get back to us.

Why does interest in this comedy prove nobody cares about the other issues?

Answer: It doesn't so stop being such high-handed cock-ends. Thx.
