MTV Movie Awards

Post by Funkmasterr »

Only one important part of the show:

Sarah Silverman, and douchebag (aka Dane Cook) ripping into Paris Hilton (who was at the show) and seeing how pissed off she was.

I will try and find a video clip online to share sometime today when I get a chance cause it was hilarious.

Yeah, in Sarah's opening monologue she was tearing into Paris Hilton - she said something akin to *Paris has to report to prison in a few days* - they cut to Paris in the audience and she looks uncomfortable. Then Sarah says *They say that Paris will not get special treatment in jail - but I heard that in order to make her feel more at home they are going to paint the bars on her cell to look like penises....I am worried about Paris...I hope she doesn't break her teeth on those steel bars*.

They cut to Paris again and she looks upset - It was too funny.

I don't think a lot of people *get* Sarah Silverman...which is a shame...I enjoy her humor.

I <3 Sarah Silverman.

I met this girl once while completely blacked out drunk.... when i woke up the next morning, i thought she looked just like sarah silverman.... I met her again a few weeks later, yeah she didn't look anything like her... not even close. beer goggles ftw!

This link includes what she said before the Paris thing - which was about Jack Nicholson and Lindsay Lohan, which is also pretty funny.

I wish they'd just remove the removed clips from the search...

MTV still exists? Weird.

Reminds me of something:
"M.T.V.-Get Off The Air"

Fun Fun Fun in the fluffy chair
Flame up the herb
Woof down the beer
[click!]
Hi
I'm your video DJ
I always talk like I'm wigged out on quaaludes
I wear a satin baseball jacket everywhere I go

My job is to help destroy
What's left of your imagination
By feeding you endless doses
Of sugar-coated mindless garbage

So don't create
Be sedate
Be a vegetable at home
And thwack on that dial
If we have our way even you will believe
This is the future of rock and roll

How far will you go
How low will you stoop
To tranquilize our minds with your sugar-coated swill

You've turned rock and roll rebellion
Into Pat Boone sedation
Making sure nothing's left to the imagination

M.T.V. Get off the
M.T.V. Get off the
M.T.V. Get off the air
Get off the air

See the latest rejects from the muppet show
Wag their tits and their dicks
As they lip-synch on screen
There's something I don't like
About a band who always smiles
Another tax write-off
For some schmuck who doesn't care

M.T.V. Get off the air
And so it was
Our beloved corporate gods
Claimed they created rock video
Allowing it to sink as low in one year
As commercial TV has in 25
"It's the new frontier," they say
It's wide open, anything can happen
But you've got a lot of nerve
To call yourself a pioneer
When you're too god-damn conservative
To take real chances.

Tin-eared
Graph-paper brained accountants
Instead of music fans
Call all the shots at giant record companies now

The lowest common denominator rules
Forget honesty
Forget creativity
The dumbest buy the mostest
That's the name of the game

But sales are slumping
And no one will say why
Could it be they put out one too many lousy records?!?

M.T.V.-Get off the air!

That's off topic and kind of nonsense.. Yeah MTV makes pop music.. well, pop music. And I can see how you could argue that this perpetuates more shitty pop music being signed and released, however I would argue that if there wasn't MTV there would be some other way the same damn thing would happen. Basically, I think blaming MTV is idiotic, but I see the point. That being said the only time I watch MTV is for the awards, and for shows like Human Giant / Scarred and Hollyhood.. I don't ever even watch the music shows anymore as it is generally all the black teenage R&B singers videos that they play (there are about 2 trillion of them) and emo rock music, which are two of the worst kinds of music out.

MTv is crap these days. They should take the M out and rename it RWRRTv (Real World/Road Rules).

That song might have been poignant back in '85 but it's pretty irrelevant now.
MTV hasn't about music or music videos for the past 5-10 years.

Oh I wasn't saying I thought you wrote it, I just didn't agree with it. But for the most part I agree with what miir said, in 24 hours of programming on mtv, I would guess about 2-4 hours of it is actually music.

MTV is all about advertising. It's one giant commercial.

Saw this posted and decided to watch it for some unknown reason... It wasn't very entertaining. It was basically one big ad. Every presenter was basically annouced as "From the upcoming movie..." The fact that Keira Knightly was nominated for Best Performance should be some indication of how things went. Not to mention PoTC:Dead Man's Chest won Best Movie. I mean seriously! Although it's not like they had that great of a selection to choose from.

Yeah I thought it was pretty pathetic that all but one of the movies nominated for best movie were comedies. In my mind no comedy is "best movie" material, but whatever.
