1- To this day I can't get over how not funny that guy was.
2- As soon as the majority of people start using the term "corn off the cob" I will gladly use it myself.

maybe it was funnier live? besides, corn doesn't actually come out of the ground on a cob like a potato.

I would say that corn most certainly does come from the ground, albeit on a stalk. Even so, the point remains the same.

Mitch Hedberg was fucking hilarious. I saw him live like 12 days before he died, and while he was all kinds of fucked up on something, it was some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen.

That's the same fear that conservatives had back when the pill was first introduced in what, the 50's? So what if a girl just uses it to get laid? The reasons as to why young women have sex to begin with is already frought with complexities and social stigmas. The pill does nothing more than empower a woman and take one more risk off the table, perhaps the biggest risk of them all, which is getting pregnant. The pill was a major part of the sexual revolution, and I think the world is a better place because of it. If anything, more young women should be on the pill to stop the tidal wave of teen and unwanted pregnancies.
It's just odd to see that same concern from anyone 50 years later.

Now given there are probably some extranious variables but once the pill was in widespread use the divorce rate skyrockted. What was originally intended to give people more freedom in marriage to not worry about having kids every time they had sex, seemed to accomplish just the opposite.
Some might say that's not a bad thing... however I would totally disagree.
I believe that children do need 2 parents, in most cases 1 male and 1 female works best. That is not to say that 1 or 2 of the same aren't valid or can't do a good job at all, they can and in some cases do a better job than 1 male and 1 female.
I say this not from a religious standpoint but a secular one from my counseling days and from my observations today as a parent.
What SCARES me in regards to this thread though is that something else has skyrockted since the pill was introduced... people having problems getting pregnant who do want kids. It took my wife and I 4 years after she got off the pill to get pregnant, both of us going through all kinds of testing. One of the things they have learned recently is that the pill she was on, due to her heavy periods, sometimes makes the uterus unimplantable for years after someone has stopped taking the pill. If abortions bother you it also interesting to note that the reason it does this to the uterus is because one of the ways it prevents pregnancy is preventing implantation. This is truly some scary shit if you think about it. While we are all big on keeping reproduction under control right now our species could be facing some serious issues in 100 years. Sure, we might be doing what Winnow suggested by then but I hope not and I'm certian my wife feels the same way. Childbirth was painful and traumatic but I know she wouldn't change anything. Maybe we are the crazy ones though...

I once saw a girl put a corncob up her butt.
