The Rev. Jerry Falwell — founder of the Moral Majority and the face of the religious right in the 1980s — died Tuesday after being found unconscious in his office, a Liberty University executive said.

My money is on auto-erotic asphyxiation.

This planet just became a better place. If only his minions had a suicide pact to off themselves when he died.

Sure, take the easy money.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Time for a few others to take the hint.

Pat Robertson
Al Sharpton
Jesse Jackson
crazy dude running around protesting at soldiers funerals
Jack Thompson (oh, wait...he's not an radical evangelist...but he can go to)

to name the most prominent.

If I'm wrong about this whole God existing business, and there actually is a hell, I hope that Falwell is somewhere down there being ass fucked by Tinky Winky right about now.

I don't know who's going to replace him though. You'd have to dig pretty deep in the angry southern religious genepool to fill his shoes.

He was such a hateful man.

It would be funny if a certian memebr of VV suddenly never posted here again. My suspicion would be confirmed :P

Jerry Falwell, re: 9/11/01 wrote:JERRY FALWELL: And I agree totally with you that the Lord has protected us so wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. And I fear, as Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, said yesterday, that this is only the beginning. And with biological warfare available to these monsters - the Husseins, the Bin Ladens, the Arafats--what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact--if, in fact--God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population.

JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU's got to take a lot of blame for this.

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, yes.

JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

JERRY FALWELL: Pat, did you notice yesterday the ACLU, and all the Christ-haters, People For the American Way, NOW, etc. were totally disregarded by the Democrats and the Republicans in both houses of Congress as they went out on the steps and called out on to God in prayer and sang "God Bless America" and said "let the ACLU be hanged"? In other words, when the nation is on its knees, the only normal and natural and spiritual thing to do is what we ought to be doing all the time--calling upon God.

PAT ROBERTSON: Amen
He will be missed!

Just not by anyone with a brain.

Them's pretty strong words for a guy who lost his virginity to his mom in an outhouse while drinking Midori.

I said a prayer for his soul, primarily because I think I disagreed with just about everything the man seemed to stand for... yet we are suppose to be "brothers."

Perhaps in the future we will see more minister like Rick Warren continue in the spotlight, ones who stand their gound but look for common ground with everyone as well to address the problems facing the world.

The only thing about that guy is he looks and acts like that guy from V for Vendetta, the "Voice of London" except his message is anti religious. I like to listen to him at times because he is just plain funny, but a little too much of a zelaot for my tastes. Moderation is the key to success.
