Millie wrote a good response that was a good and relevant conclusion.

If getting attention was her goal, she sure got it, getting her own topic very quickly after her entrance.

The question is if it was worth it to her though.

You can get attention in both positive and negative ways, but i believe she is thinking that any attention is good attention.

What it sounds like is she made a snide/nasty whatever, comment thinking she would get a shot in. Humor at other peoples expense in game is normal. I constantly bash pally bud in my guild but Id hand 1million pp to him no problem. Why ? Hes a friend and he can whip my eq azz , lol. Wheither it was meant or not(and the general opinion is that it was meant) you hurt/angered whatever someone , someone in your guild . if its "part of the game " to you it obviously wasnt to him and at the very least an apology is in order. After that if it isnt accepted , fook it move on . (BTW I didnt bother reading all the posts to see if you actually tried too.)

PALEEZZE I have to say something. I see all these references to "US" everywhere in MOST EVERY post. "US" what is "US" explain? no wait dont. I feel so sorry that people get so bent out if shape by words on a line Do you actually place the meaning of this SPACE as high as the CONSTITUTION?I have like what 5 posts I have only been replied to one time, and it wasnt nicely. I didnt continue to post because of this. The only time I was ever noticed by "US" was in a mean manner. Maybe I thought for a second or so ( after lurking awhile), that I would try to be one of "US". a fleeting second I might add.

That said ok, she made a stupid statment according to "US". did "US" make her aware in a HUMAN manner NO "US" LASHED AT HER.(referring to Shaerra) I applaud her attempts at standing up and not taking the BS "US" dealt her.

Did "US" ever think for one second that maybe people say and do stupid things? I dont think so. I see a person dealing back the same cards she was dealt. Does a person join "US" if they never make a mistake or say something stupid? What are the rules do you cower and admit that "US" is better than me? Whether you feel that way or not?

When I decided to put my 2cp in the very first time. I felt like a lone wolf standing on the outside, from the reaction I got from "US". I cant deal with that. In RL I am not placed in that position. I dont care if I am accepted or not. In my position I am accepted by default. deal with what I say or dont its that simple. "US" to me is a pack of wolves. You have the Alpha male (you know who you are) the Alpha female (hard to say here an ongoing battle) and the rest of the pack laying around bellie up waiting for the "kill" to enter the den so you can establish the pecking order. No reference to "geeks", " "trekkies" just who has the sharpest teeth, quikest lash, and the loudest bark

All I see here is a THREAT to the PECKING order and a bunch of belly-ups doing their best to keep that ever so important place

Seems that maybe some simpler definition of the culture of this board is needed. Or maybe it's clarification. Nevertheless, I'm in the mood to attempt to sound intelligent so I'll give it a shot.

Flaming around here is kind of like the game "Shield" that you played as a kid. Yes, the one you played to cop a cheap feel of the girl/boy that lived next door when you were 10 or 11 years old. There is a shield that represents the boundaries that exist here. You can't break that shield and actually "touch" anyone. Granted these boundaries aren't well-defined sometimes and they are really liberal, people who have been posting here (hell, even lurkers) usually understand them to some degree.

Every one of us has been the subject of a flame at some point. The only person on this board who has not ever lost a flame war is The Machine. Everyone gets it at some point.

Those that do go to far are usually taken to task quite harshly and given a chance to let it die. Only in rare cases has it resulted in anyone completely ostracized.

The telling tale for this one is that even those who have long-standing flamewars going agree on this one. When that happens it should be a major clue that it's time to let it go and recover later, not to try to bull your way through.

I bet you wouldn't come in insulting anyone on your second or third visit. Not even the smallest geeky looking guy. If you did you should expect at least half a regular clientele to stand up for him.

Instead you would probably sit quiet a listen, maybe give a few polite smiles and hellos here and there too feel the atmosphere. Probably chat with a few people, find some allies if not 'friends'.

There is no alfa and omega here, this is a community not a pack. TOday one person stands up and talks loudly, tomorrow it will be a different person. From time to time there happens to be that black sheep that some will pick on but let's not hop into generalizations and say 'all' or 'everybody'

I'm somewhat fascinated and very interested in wolves and the order and organization of wolf packs is sooo much not what we have here on VV.

In other news I am amazed by people who come here get burned and come back for more all the while saying they don't care that they got burned. Seems somewhat self destructing.
