Great comic, yay for PvP. As for your comments, you apparently haven't watched the show very much I guess ><Hesten wrote:The polar bear was in the first or 2nd episode of season 1, they shot it.
Forgot about Mr. Echo, but know there was at least one polar bear
WHY there is a polar bear is anyones guess. I think this comic say it best:

Can remember the first polar bear because it was one of the first real WTF moments. The Mr. Echo one i cant really remember, the first part of season 3 are kinda blurry because it was kinda boring, and held a WAY too long break

The cages on Hydra where Kate and Sawyer were kept were bear cages, so I think its pretty safe to assume that's where they came from.

Dont worry Truant, even IF you follow the show, it dont get less confusingTruant wrote:I have never seen a single episode of this show, and I know absolutely nothing about it (except for people stuck on an island).
That makes this thread a much more entertaining read! It almost reads like madlibs!

Actually lots of things happen. The problem is that you never get any answers. At the moment, the few answers we got have just opened up for WAY more questions.kyoukan wrote:I bought season 1 of this show on DVD. I'm holding off on buying/watching season 2 because NOT A SINGLE THING ACTUALLY HAPPENED THE ENTIRE SEASON. It was completely not worthwhile. I've heard that season 2 and 3 are not much better, confirm/deny?
Thats why i didnt like the first half (ok, first 1/3) of season 3, since we got no answers, and nothing much happened really, and then a 4 month break

Some folks like to read the last page of a book before they read the rest of it. Some folks enjoy prolonged suspense.
I love the fact that there are more questions and answers. Eventually they will all be answered. Just enjoy the ride.

And even if there are no answers after season 4, would people still watch it?
I believe this series could go on for 5+ seasons with people watching it, without answering shite!
People keep watching because they HOPE there will be answers, but they can milk it and merely create more questions and no answers at all up until season 119½!

My E! Online partner in crime Marc Malkin just announced in his column, Planet Gossip, that ABC is set to announce that Lost will end production after two more seasons.
According to these sources, ABC will be making an announcement declaring an end date for Lost very soon. However, the exact number of remaining episodes and seasons is still muddy—and might not be exactly two seasons.
The good news? You don't have to wait long. I'm told the announcement will be made within the next few days.
Still, the biggest change may be that massive, mind-blowing, cast-related "game-changer" I keep hinting about—to which I am sworn to secrecy, for it is that big—which is revealed in the season finale. (I cannot wait for you to see it.)

I never read the end of a book... however, I *DO* try to find out if every book in a series has been written now before I start reading it, because otherwise you have no guarantee at all that "eventually they will all be answered".Lalanae wrote:Some folks like to read the last page of a book before they read the rest of it. No way on earth I'm going to be bitten by another author like Jordan (dumped) or Martin (still reading) that doesn't know when to STFU, and same thing with TV. I don't know if it was good/bad/or indifferent, but I didn't even watch 2 episodes of that Jericho thing, and it wasn't that the acting was bad, it was that I could see another wanna-be-lost-milking-you-forever series. I think a lot of people saw that and it bombed.
People just have too much buy-in to Lost now and they're going to hang in there until the bitter end, assuming the studio doesn't decide that the ratings are shit and can it a series before it's all concluded and really fuck you in the ass for following it 4 years.
It's like, look at George R R Martin, he's clearly old and fat... I bet he dies before Fire and Ice is concluded, the bastard ><

things happen, yeah. like ted hurts his leg and they have to spend an entire episode looking for something to make into a bandage, while some black dude is running around the jungle going 'WALT! WALT!' and there is this korean dude that wants to kill him. but nothing ever happened that actually advanced the overall arc of the story. I don't mind being kept in suspense, but I was completely unsatisfied.Hesten wrote: Actually lots of things happen. The problem is that you never get any answers.
I read an article a bit ago that inferred that not even the writers/producers of the show know what the fuck is going on and they are just winging it.
season two revealed the tail-section people from the plane as well as introducing the others.. pretty significantkyoukan wrote:things happen, yeah. like ted hurts his leg and they have to spend an entire episode looking for something to make into a bandage, while some black dude is running around the jungle going 'WALT! I read the exact opposite (maybe from the lostpedia site) about the writers.. they know exactly what they're doing but intentionally mess with the viewers sometimes.. they do leave clues though..
here's that site (again, I know someone linked it already) http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Main_Page

It's been a while since I saw the first episode, but I am pretty sure it was the wing that was sticking up rather than the tail of the plane. I believe the other survivors from the tail section were introduced early in season 2.kyoukan wrote:the tail section? there was a huge tail sticking out of the ground in the first episode.
*edit* nevermind, I found a picture on that wiki that was linked above, and the tail was there. I don't have season 3 episode one or the earlier episodes to pull and see if the crash was different in any of them. Even though the tail being off of the beach in episode 1 of season 1 is mentioned on the wiki, nothing is mentioned about the tail section survivors being somewhere other than where the tail itself is...
Did the tail actually show up with the original (mid-section) survivors in the picture at all, or was it just shown floating in the water?

That tail section photo is from the episode where they explain the first 40 days of the Tailies I believe. I don't remember them showing the tail sticking out of the water in the premiere. I could be wrong tho.

Looks like 3 seasons yay!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070507/en_nm/lost_dc
I guess I don't understand some of the expectations. Most TV shows are character dramas where each episode is merely a look at a certain aspect of the character's lives. Take Six Feet Under for example. It was an awesome show, but there wasn't a lot of "action" and certainly no overall story arc. Most of season 1 explores the characters and their lives and this info in many cases DOES eventually play into the "WTF kind of island is this" plot.
As far as the creators not knowing the outcome, that's not true. One of the DVD extras (maybe it was in a commentary, I don't recall) explained how the two primary creators met for the first time and basically planned the whole series history in a night. It was a bare bones draft initially planned for 7 seasons, but they knew enough about the "big sekrits" to sketch out the series. They have assured viewers that they won't cheat them by having some BS cheat ending, like "It's all a dream" or something. They said there is an explanation, they know what it is, and it will all make sense eventually.

Good stuff, considering it was expected they'd announce only 2 more seasons. I'm stupid and suck at the maths. I'll take what I can get. Also putting it in Jan with all back-to-back episodes (a la 24) instead of the fiasco that was this seasons huge break is also a great move, and will probably see their ratings higher for it than this seasons.

Lost will end in 2010.
It's now official. ABC has agreed with the producers of Tv's "Lost" and set an end point for the serial drama - with the finale to air during the 2009-10 television season.
The producers have stated before that they wanted to finish off the show after five seasons, but the network wanted more - and so a compromise had to be reached.
Variety reports that "Lost" showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have signed new multi-year overall deals with ABC Television Studio to continue with the series until the end. Part of that deal was figuring out the end to the series.
The result? Rather than two seasons consisting of the standard 24 episodes each, there will be three seasons of 16 episodes. These three 16-episode arcs will run uninterrupted each time, allowing the network to turn it into an 'event'.
When they will air is unsure, though the finale has to screen no earlier than late 2009. The current third season will wrap up at the end of May, and combined with the 48 new episodes, the show will ultimately air approximately 119 episodes of television.
