BTW, I purchased and played it at release. I enjoyed it for a few days, then lost interest. I can definitely see where an EQ1 player would really enjoy it, but it wasn't for me.

The best estimate that I could find puts DDO somewhere between 30k and 50k subs.

Vanguard sales for the first 2 months have been somewhere around 200k.
The average server has between 2000-2500 players online during primetime.

That would mean Vanguard has roughly the same number of concurrent connections as DDO has total players.

To address your other points.
SOE hasn't taken the game over.
It's still developed and supported by Sigil.
The dev team is not employed by SOE, nor is the GM and support staff.
SOE is providing the distribution and infrastructure as well as handling billing.

I'm not some sigil/brad/vanguard knob slobbering fanboy....If you look back at my posts about Vanguard, I actually thought the game sucked balls during beta. It was a bloated and buggy piece of shit that barely ran on my computer.
I had pretty much decided that I wasn't going to be playing it but I was convinced by friends to give it a try for a month.
At release Vanguard was still buggy and unfinished but despite that, I was having a lot of fun playing it. The game has truckloads of potential and depth. Something that LOTRO is lacking.

So they are running at around 10% of Vanguard's numbers.

William, from player run tools that monitor the number of active players level 2-50 per day, the population of Vanguard has dropped nearly 80% since launch.

According to Brad McQuaid, the game sold between 200k-250k boxes. According to the reports there aren't even 50k active CHARACTERS logging in anymore. It is assumed, on average, that one character is played per account. However, we all know there are people playing several characters. So, that is less than 50k people still playing.

Further, McQuaid, specified that Vanguard needs 250K+ active subscribers to get close to breaking even. They need a lot more to turn a profit. Every day they don't have 250k, is another day closer to the death of Vanguard and Sigil. It doesn't look good, and therefore a buyout is the likely outcome.

Your numbers are full of shit. I can find zero current DDO subscription numbers. Last numbers on their charts were middle of 2006 with 90k active subscriptions. Don't blame the messenger for the shortcomings of this game......but I told you so.
