I don't really have an issue with any person being banned after nearly 6 years of bringing virtually nothing to the boards but inane trolling, personal attacks and a creepy obsession with rape imagery. Face it, Cart was a useless twat, and most of us will certainly not miss his daily display of mind-numbing retardation. Personally, I don't really care if he's allowed to post or not. I never paid any real attention to anything he had to say anyway. Also, trying to compare Cart to any other poster on this board isn't really valid. Whether or not you disagree with them or dislike them, they at least actually contribute to discussions.

As others have stated, the fact of the matter is that he literally asked to be banned after receiving a simple warning. Whether it was in the heat of the moment, or just another example of his stupidity, those are the breaks.

Cart would not be banned if this board put it to a vote. I've seen some pretty balanced posters on this thread say the ban shouldn't be permanent even after reading the first post with the PM in it. It's simply selectively choosing who to listen to. As with just about everything in this world, people don't bitch when they're fine with things so you're not going to get PMs from those that don't care, only the minority who do.

That's just not true. You may find someone else more annoying, and someone else might find a completely different person more annoying, but cartalas was the hands-down consensus winner. I don't see a whole lot of people saying that he added anything of value. In fact, your comment about him being part of your Suns thread is pretty much the sole redeeming value that anyone has brought up about him. The few people who have expressed a dissenting opinion that him being banned was anything but good news seem to be doing it from a free speech angle, not out of any love or respect for cartalas.

You're also talking like people were bitching about personal attacks or couldn't defend themselves, which is not true. People were complaining about his constant trolling, like they always have. I was just pointing out some of the rules that he constantly violated, the rl picture rule being the most recent and immediately obvious example, and told him to cut it out. He replied "Fuck Off!" (I was actually quite proud of him for a whole private message without any spelling or grammatical errors, if you ignore the capitalization) and then posted this message. I was more than willing to let him stay here and try to abide by the few rules that we have, but he wasn't interested in that.

First ammendment doesn't apply in this case for all kinds of reasons.

1) It has never been a blanket cover for slander or libel, and that has happened dozens of times.

2) Like Kyou says, I'm not American either. Besides, if your government is happy to use the consitution to wipe it's arse, what do I care about it?

I've had Cart on ignore for god knows how long and never saw what he said unless it was quoted or I felt like killing a few brain cells and clicked it to read anyways, so his being banned or not banned doesn't affect me much either way. But he is. And seriously, what difference does it really make? He added nothing at all to conversations. Usually if I put someone on ignore there's at least some kind of confusion as to what was said that people are replying to, but not with Cart. You knew what it would say before he even typed it. It would be a oneliner with plenty of typos and strange uses of capital letters. His only contribution of substance is his posting here anymore. That says a lot about the situation.

I don't think I'd want anyone else banned, despite my personal feelings about them. I'd fight to keep Midnyte around. I'd fight to keep Kylere around.
