Post nominations here, one per reply please. I'll try to add the ones from the monolithic thread that I recognize.

Seconded.

I'd also nominate the Original Double Dragon, but vote for SF2.

Are Galaxian and Galaga the same game? I was always under the impression they were.

Galaga was the sequel to Galaxian, and much better. There was a 2 or 3 year split between releases, I think.

War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Did anybody ever play that game, I want to call it Gladiator but I'm not positive, which was basically a side-scroller and you'd walk along and stuff would come at you and you could either attack with your sword high, med, or low, or you could block with your shield in any of those spots. As you got hit you'd lose pieces of your armor, and if you got hit in an unprotected spot you'd die... Man I loved that game.

The only place I ever saw that game was at a holiday inn that my dad used to play racquetball at, and I would play the shit out of that game while waiting for him. I must have been like 8 or 9 years old.

Started it all? Not hardly, but it was a fun game at the time. It wasn't even close to the best or most advanced game at the time it was released.

Yeah I played this game (and have the Mame file for it). It was pretty fucking hard, but fun as hell.
