Post nominations here, one per reply please. I'll try to add the ones from the monolithic thread that I recognize.

I did like Xenogears quite a bit, but I got really pissed because I played through it right to the end and went into the boss fight well before I was ready, and forgot to make a second save.

I just went with Zelda because I didn't want to start thinking into it then never decide.. Then I start thinking -
Secret of Mana
Earthbound
Secret of Evermore
Suikoden
and on and on

FF4 (2 american)
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Because it had an inferior story and music to both FF4 and FF6. It was a great game, but there is a reason why there are twelve Final Fantasies and only two Chrono Triggers. The only real edge chrono trigger had over FF4 was the multiple endings.

I am split 50/50 between FF7 and BG2. Both were so fucking good for the time.

Seconded. Arena was a groudbreaker in the RPG field. I still remember playing right up to the very moment before I had to go to school. I mean, if I left 30 seconds later, and ran all the way, I would be late by 29 seconds.
