The Science of Sleep

Post by Lalanae »

Didn't see a post for this one...

Saw this flick last week (Netflix) and loved it. Didn't love it as much as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which is my absolutely favorite film), but it was really enjoyable. (Michel Gondry directed both films) It doesn't have the "payoff" like ESotSM but Gondry wanted to keep it ambiguous, according to the commentary.

Gael Garcia Bernal was charming and endearing and hilarious. Hes one of those actors who does no wrong in my eyes. I love everything I've seen him in.

I love that the female lead (Stephanie) is a fibre artist (fabrics, yarn, etc) and that Bernal (Stephane) wears an aubergine suit of the 60's mod era throughout the film. There is a great little song about cat rescue that Gondry uses in one of the dream sequeneces and I couldn't get it out of my head for days. It's a unique film for sure.

i was really looking forward to it,
i enjoyed it but it was a little disappointing

it was as if you took the good stuff out of eternal sunshine, and left the disfunctional love story, and instead of memory, its dreams

his imagery is beautiful(gondry) but without kaufmans writing, (it seems) it just doesnt cut it

the acting was great, i really like the female lead
