Begins this weekend in Division III. My (and other board members) University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers are the number one seed in the country. It will be interesting to see how far they go. I will always root for them but I am a bit surprised at their position right now.
Their primary post player is only 6'4" and he has had trouble defending in the paint against taller opponents. He is quick enough at the other end to average 20 points a game though. We have the best free throw percentage in the country at over 82% and I know we hit a lot of threes (something like 45%+). One of our starters is generously 5'6" and maybe 125 pounds but he is so much fun to watch. He has the best ball control skills I have ever seen. He constantly dribbles people out of their shoes and can weave in and out of traffic. He doesn't score many points but I think he averages 8 assists per game with almost no turnovers. Not sure if he is considered a forward or guard, frankly I am not sure what the difference is anyway. If he was 4 inches taller then he probably would be playing Div. I ball somewhere.
Either way it should be fun to watch. College basketball is so much more fun to watch than the pros. The kids seem to take it so much more seriously. I tried watching an NBA game the other day and there was just no energy in their play. It was like they were showing up for work and that was it.

Don't worry, Michigan will beat them on Saturday and they'll drop out of their #1 seed. Meanwhile, Michigan will make the tourney.
Actually, I don't even care if we do. I just want Tommy Amaker to get fired asap. Bring on Rudy T!
