Having an advertisement that people spread to each other through word of mouth and, in this case, by having them input other people's telephone numbers is most certainly viral marketing. In just about any conversation I've ever heard about viral marketing, one of the big examples is the exact same thing as this that Samuel L. Jackson did for Snakes on a Plane.
