Can XP Pro Remote into Vista Home Premium?

Post by Ashur »

If so, what do I need to do to enable this? I have XP Pro on my desktop and my wife has Vista Home Premium on her laptop. I'm responsible for maintaining it operationally because she doesn't have a clue and I'd like to give the functionality a try.

from what I saw on the feature list, home premium doesn't come with remote desktop... which sucks! I am thinking about the business edition, when i finally do go to vista on a new machine.

I would bite the bullet and get Ultimate is RDP is that important to you.

You don't want to miss out on Media Center and the possibilities that comes with it.

Bear in mind... and this might not be of importance to any of you... if you get one of the business editions, they don't come with the Parental control (which is really nice if you have kids), and a couple other minor features I can't remember. Parental control was the big one.
Oh, my God; I care so little, I almost passed out.

It isn't that important. Vista Home Premium came with her laptop and I just happened to have XP Pro. It's not too much of a PITA to just do maintenance tasks with it while I do other things on my PC, I just hate having two PCs in front of me when I can have one.

Thanks for the information guys.

RDP should be in all versions IMO. That's the only feature that makes me buy Ultimate over Home Premium.

You can always set up your own free VPN type remote access if you need it...nowhere near as easy but not that bad.
