I recently built a new system and put XP Pro (64 bit if it matters) on it, when I go to share a folder all I get the the basic share or not share option, and if shared read only or read write just like I got with XP home edition. I'd like to be able to set it to a particular non-admin user and it doesn't let me.
On my work system XP Pro lets me set user level access permissions just like I could with 2000.
I'm sure I'm missing something dumb but what is it?

Speaking of, is someone able to tell me in small words how I can set up password protection on my home network ? I've tried and tried, but I can't seem to get it to work. Basically I just want my shared network folders to be protected with a password or a login requirement of some kind. That way I can still transfer files between laptop and stationary machine but my roommates won't steal my megahurtz.

You need a password set on each account on each machine, preferrably w/ the same name. If they're also the same password then it won't ask *you* for a password because it will try the one it has cached, then ask if that fails.
To set up the shares, you need to do what I spelt out above for Aabi, then just share the folder, and click on the security settings button to set which users (you) are allowed to use it, then remove "everyone" (don't set everyone to denied because you are a subset of everyone...)
