Work

Post by Cotto »

Just had a small revelation that I thought I'd throw out into the world for a little bit.

I've been in work from 8:45, thats 45minutes later than I should be.
So far I have done 25minutes work. I have no work to do for the rest
of the day, nor will I have any work to do for the rest of the week...or
the week after that. Or in fact any work until February 10th, which is when I leave....(wouldnt it be great if i was getting paid an actual wage, instead of a Modern Apprenticeship at £325 a month)

I havent worked in the last two weeks since after the Christmas Rush (I help selling Christmas cards at that time).
Is it wrong to take money from a company that does give you any work?
OR, does anyone else, have an acutal, working wage job, in which they do, dick all.

Cheers, I'm off to play solitaire, or possible find some way to redirect my phone to reception.

I'm paid to sit here and take work as it comes in. Like you, I have done all my work for the day and have nothing on the rest of the week. However, at any second (usually at the end of the day of course), I could get quite OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS dumped on me all at once. I am the lone man at my office and do the job that 4 people have in our main office.

When it's busy, it's exceptionally busy. When it's slow, I might as well be at home.

It's all good though. I read OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of books and play OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of GBA. Metroid Fusion is fucking sweet btw.

Might try and get Metroid for the computer I'm on. But the advantage of being in an office with absolutely no communication, is that you get to sit at your desk, and should someone come to you with work, wave the big sheets of paper left to you to work on at the start of your career, by someone who abruptly left the company and gave you something that doesnt actually need done.

I doubt anyone would miss me if I didnt come in, maybe I could get a small part-time job and just not show up 2 days a week...hum

I wish I had a GBA so I could plug it into my GC and unlock the original Metroid game on my Metroid Prime disc. :(

It's 8:55am here. I have been done with everything I need to get done today since around 8:40am. Got in a little before 8:00am. Unfortunately - the powers that be notice if I am not here - and would rather I be here doing nothing, than be at home doing nothing. So they pay me to sit here and surf the web and lurk IRC. If only they'd get me an EQ capable PC :) One can hope!

The joy of working as a tech in a small company is that you only really work if something is broken. Actually that would be true if the employees weren't PC-Retarded. That means that they come to you and blame you for the computer fucking up when infact they entered in faulty data.

Like Fair said, when you do work it is usually intense. As it stands I get time to read the boards, download music, play games, or do design work on our website (which I don't consider work because I like to do it).

Not to mention Salary is a nice thing when you know you won't have to do any overtime. 1hr+ lunches are sweet too.
