How many deaths are attributed to these horrible men? You brought up a few good ones there. I was definitely off. There has been a handful of horrible dictators since Hitler.Pherr the Dorf wrote:You confuse a petty violent dictator with Hitler? Here are a few more realistic names for you.
Pol Pot
Jean Kambanda
Omar El Bashir

The deposed president was found guilty over the killing of 148 members of the Shiite population of the town of Dujail after militants tried to assassinate him there in 1982, during Iraq’s war with Shiite Iran.
So, he killed 148 people from a town where some people tried to assassinate him. Oh yeah, he was at war with thier people.
Didn't Bush and Co. rack up over 100,000 civilian deaths about a year ago, and like 1/2 of that figure were children under the age of 15? I wonder what the estimate is even at now...
What a fucking joke.
Using this as a measuring stick, Bush and his entire cadre need to be tortured for a couple years before killing them and all thier families.
It takes a fucking whako to run a nation full of crazed zelots. We created the biggest blunder in modern history by taking him out and inheriting his cancer of a country. We have hypocrisy in spades from our own leaders, and no one seems to give a rats ass, yet Saddam is teh debil. The whole ordeal makes me sick.

Jesus christ, you cannot possibly be this fucking ignorant. Hitler? The guy barely rates an Idi Amin or Milosavic. He isn't even in the same universe as Hitler, but I am sure Fox thanks you for drinking the Kool Aid. I think this has to be some kind of speed record for playing the Hitler card in a thread....Midnyte_Ragebringer wrote:The Hitler of our time is executed. Let the world rejoice.
Anyhow, the guy was a ruthless motherfucker and damn smart, but the CIA put him in power in the first place. Iraq (and arguably the Middle East) was actually a more stable place with him in power, which speaks volumes about his effectiveness vs Team Bush. My gut tells me that we rushed him to the gallows so he wouldn't clue people in to the fact that he gassed the Kurds with shit we gave to him to use on Iran in the first place. The whole trial was horseshit and should have been handled by outside parties, anyhow, but considering large numbers of Iraqis were going to be pissed no matter what we did with him, its just as well we snuffed him quickly. Now maybe people might start asking when are we going to get the fucker who actually was responsible for 9/11.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .
Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Quoted for emphasis, in case you missed it the first time, and the history lesson you so dearly need. Despite what you might have seen on the most recent episode of GI Joe, he wasn't the second coming of Cobra Commander.Jice Virago wrote:Jesus christ, you cannot possibly be this fucking ignorant. "Terrorism is the war of the poor, and war is the terrorism of the rich"
Killing Saddam:
- Makes him a martyr and inspires more terrorist acts.
- Destroys evidence of all other crimes he has committed (especially Halabja). Many Kurds wanted the execution postponed because of this (and a lot are against capital punishment anyway).
- Canceling the death penalty will be a step away from the brutality of the civil war and religious/clan feuds.
- Not to mention that it would be a signal to the Sunnis that they will also belong in Iraq after everything settles down. If it can be settled down.
-If they were hellbent on killing him it should have been on charges of what he did against the Kurds. Would have led to less religious trouble.

Hitler of our time? Are you fucking retarded or just a NASCAR fan?
Granted, Hussein was pretty fucked up, but he was more of a smokescreen I think. Hell, hard to tell with all the bullshit prop' that this country spews out to protect the minds of the ignorant. Should have hung 'W' right next to him.
And didn't Pol Pot hit the 2 million mark? Want to talk about genocide, give Mr Pot a google. That fucker was just plain mean.
And for some reason I do think you meant well by this post, Mid...so try not to take the nascar bit too personally.

That's pretty vague. I mean, I know he forced his soldiers into the slaughter on many, many occasions during the war, but he didn't pull up to a village and start murdering people at random, then moving to the next town. He didn't throw women and children into gas chambers and ovens. Stalin didn't have mass graves for people he murdered. However, he definately had no regard for human life.archeiron wrote:"Fun" fact: Stalin killed more of his own people than Hitler, and possibly more people totally!
Also, I think Hitler killed more Russians (POWs, non-combatants and innocent men/women/children) than Jews?

I don't know who was worse, but Stalin was almost certainly guilty of quite a bit more than just forcing his soldiers into the slaughter.Fairweather Pure wrote:That's pretty vague. From Publishers Weekly
Everyone knows what the Holocaust was, but, Amis points out, there is no name for and comparatively little public awareness of the killing that took place in the Soviet Union between 1917 and 1933, when 20 million died under a Bolshevik regime that ruled as if waging war against its own people. Why? The U.S.S.R. was effectively a gigantic prison system that was very good at keeping its grisly secrets. Too, communism had widespread support in the rest of the world, as Amis reminds us. Not quite a memoir, this book sandwiches a lengthy treatise on the horror of life in Leninist and Stalinist Russia between Amis's brief personal takes on his gradually dawning awareness of Soviet atrocities. In his first and final pages, he deals with three generations of dupes who supported Soviet rule: that of H.G. Wells and George Bernard Shaw; that of novelist Kingsley Amis, the writer's father and member of the Communist Party in the 1940s; and that of leftist contemporaries of Martin Amis himself, notably the writer Christopher Hitchens. Throughout, Amis snipes at Hitchens in particular ( What about the famine?' I once asked him. There wasn't a famine,' he said, smiling slightly and lowering his gaze. There may have been occasional shortages....' ) Alexander Solzhenitsyn tried to tell the West about Stalinism in the '70s, but this grim patriarch had no appeal for the New Left, a generation interested only in revolution as play, Amis says. Most readers won't be interested in the author's private quarrels, but in the bulk of the book he relates passionately a story that needs to be told, the history of a regime that murdered its own people in order to build a better future for them.
No nation was ever ruined by trade.

Can't discuss genocide without pointing out what the Japaneese did to the Chinese prior to WWII!
What did they do? Well, they rounded em up and slaughtered them, of course. Slicing open pregnant women and bayoneting the fetus... stuff like that. Fucking medieval shit!
Many Chinese harbor a deep hatred towards the Japs to this day and vice versa.

the nipponese did that to more than the chinese. the phillipines, korea, guam, malasia, thailand, indonesia etc.
hell "you get to rape and/or kill anyone you want" was practically the recruiting slogan for the imperial army. it was too bad for them that the majority of their training involved bayonetting villagers and being told that they were invincible avatars of battle because they got their fucking asses handed to them by the marines.
stalin isn't just responsible for the deaths of russian conscripts. he did his own ethic cleansing as well. the difference was he did it in his own borders.

It was on CNN as well...that was actually the first place I saw it. Apparently that is all that was shown on Arab stations as well. There were also shots of Saddam in a white sheet/bag after being hung. I am guessing that is to prove it actually happened.Pherr the Dorf wrote:Fox news had it up, not the cell one but the one that cuts off right before the trapdoor opens... who knew snuff videos were news

Have you watched any fucking news reports about this at all? The only cameras allowed in the area recorded the whole thing, but they only aired up to the point that you will see on the US major news networks. The phone was not supposed to be in the room at all, which I believe is why you see it pointed at the stairs for a while (keeping it out of sight).
