Even if you never knew his early work, this man will surely be missed. I wasn't a big fan of Everybody Loves Raymond, but what I did like about the show was his father. To this day, "Puttin' on the Ritz" makes me laugh.

Yea he made that show, always reminded me of what my dad would be like if he actually said what he wanted to, heh.
And yea "Puttin' on the Ritz" is definitely a memory but one of my favorite parts is when Gene Wilder says "HEY HANDSOME!" and he looks all around for someone... will truly miss his talent and may have to break out Young Frankenstein tonight.

Yeah my favorite role of his was definitely Frankenstein's Monster in Young Frankenstein, but in that era of films I also loved his role in Taxi Driver. I'm not sure of his roles earlier than those films, but he's been great in everything since. One role that speaks of his versatility as an actor is his role as the father in Monster's Ball- whenever I think of that movie I think of him as that hateful, racist bastard (...and Halle Berry's boobs, but that's another story).
Anyhow, I will really miss him. He was a top notch comedic actor, as well as a dramatic actor. A truly awesome human being.
