Backup Management via S3

Post by archeiron »

[Disclaimer: I work for Amazon, so pushing for adoption of S3 for archiving could be seen as biased even though I do not work on the S3 directly]

S3 Backup wrote:S3 Backup is a fail-safe, encrypted online backup solution. Currently it's a beta release meaning some features are not available yet. It is good enough to use and you are welcome to try it out.

S3 Backup is powered by Amazon S3 – highly scalable, reliable, fast, inexpensive data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of web sites. When using S3 Backup you ensure that your data are stored in multiple locations through the world, making it safe even in the event of natural disaster or sabotage.

I haven't used this yet, but I downloaded it last night (now that beta 7 is out). Based upon some number crunching of my own, this looks like an extremely cost effective archive source system for my meager needs with a very low barrier to use.
