House of Blues and the Senate too!

Post by Fairweather Pure »

It's a good day to be a pro-choice, anti-war, Bush hating, bleeding heart liberal.

Nancy Pelosi is on a mission too, and I'm kinda loving it so far. During her acceptance speech, she said she wanted to raise minimum wage and push towards stem cell research. The fundies and Republicans must've shit thier collective pants.

Seriously though, let's hope this starts some momentum for change in this country. Let's hope the Democrats do thier part and keep thier promises. The next Presidental election may very well depend on it.

Fix our fucking economy and make sure my Social Security is secure you liberal bastards!

Can you reduce the deficit and get us ready for War again by 2012?...not that we'll have a military left after the dems get through with it.

*reaches for the Chinese translation book*

Well, if you're going to bloat our government spending and tax the shit out of us again, make sure some of it goes to science and space exploration as well as the Stem Cell research.

I can't complain about the shift in the House and Senate. It should make for a very interesting presidential election for 2008. Do we want House, Senate and a Democrat President? I can't see Hillary getting elected and it's looking more and more like she'll be the candidate. Best to keep a republican in the big seat depending on who runs...Jeb Bush promised not to run right?

Extra taxes are a small price to pay for a bit of democracy.

So you're saying the "fiscally conservative" republicans spent you into a massive hole and the "tax and spend" democrats are going to have to tax you out of it again? Man, I'm almost sure I recall that being said years ago, before the last federal election perhaps? *cough*

If you really want to get into the "I told you so's", check out any thread as we were gearing up to invade Iraq (early 2003ish). It's pretty amazing how accurate many of our predictions were, and how the same idiots should be eating crow along side the administration they blindly supported (or worse, shared thier view). Of course, those same people will never admit they were completely wrong, just like our current President and those who backed him 4 years ago(Democrats included).

Why does he have to link it when you know he is right? I remember myself predicting the future with almost 100% accuracy. Although it is nothing to brag about considering the fact that anyone who is not a fucking idiot (this excludes you, btw) would have been able to tell you that you cannot roll tanks into a country, bomb the fuck out of their infrastructure and start imprisoning people and expect them to love you. I told you fucking smacktards that you're going to be stuck in Iraq for years and the end result will be you leaving with your tails between your legs having accomplishing NOTHING other than making the middle east despise you even more.

You stupid fucking neocons (and I am not calling you a neocon because that would indicate you have ever had an ounce of actual political thought at least once in your lifetime) sat their bragging about how you're going to kick everyone's ass and turn Iraq into a democratic utopia outside of six weeks while the world laughed their asses off at how utterly fucking naive and stupid you were.

Its good for a Republic to switch power in the different chambers from time to time.....It helps clense OMGIAMRETARDEDCAUSEALOTISTWOWORDS of the corruption(of coarse not much), but brings the different parties to take shit serious and to hopefully restructure a less corrupt caucus.

Im actually happy about the election. I prefer a Republican President and one chamber of congress in Democraps hands...Im alittle upset both chambers are in Democraps hands, but ohwell....Federal Min wage inc. will boom one of my companys by about 10,000%, and I think congress being in Dems hands will inc. the likelyhood of a Republican Pres. in 2008. Which I prefer a Repub. head of the military.

Stem Cell research if a moron issue of Republicans: Im afraid to mention my view about it in our state conventions, because they will turn on you in a heartbeat. So I just dont get involved on the issue. Hell the freakin cells will die anyways use them for life instead of waisting them.

I was in favor of invading Iraq back when all this started (mostly because Saddam had been fucking with the UN inspectors for over a decade), but my doubts started when the talking heads started dictating to the military what their plan of action should be. To steal a good line from a shitty movie: The army's a broadsword, not a scalpel.

We COULD have done so much good, especially in Afghanistan, but instead of focusing on that job, we blew up one group of extremists and handed it right back over to another. Iraq was just a clusterfuck from day one. Politicos should not be telling the military how to do their job.

I just hope the democrats stay focused on the real issues, and don't get distracted with petty personal vendettas. Any prosecution of anyone is still futile until Dubya leaves office and can't just pardon them on his way out.

Getting the fundies out of our government is as big a victory for everyone who believes in science and rational thinking.

Just a heads up Nick. Typing in all caps and spelling words wrong isn't funny. It isn't funny when Stragi does it, and it's not funny when you do it (or anyone else for that matter.)

Zing.

But seriously, do we really need to shatter the Winnowverse by wasting our time digging for that which we already all know? If I were a betting man, I would place my money that its more likely that you would go digging around deleting your own posts to engage in revisionist history (like the retards you have been pimping in politics) than anyone here is going to waste time proving, basically, that water is wet.

It would be a waste of time, anyhow, because I think its fairly obvious that you only identify with the neocons because of the personal benefits you reap as a greedy self centered boorish white guy with a casual disregard for the law, as it pertains to your own person. You have made it pretty clear you don't actually believe any of the bullshit you have been shoving here and are as sincere as Cheney kissing babies. Or have you been drinking the kool aid for too long?

Anyhow, on topic: I wait with reserved optomism. The pro torture, execuative power, and spying shit needs to be reversed immediately, but the rest is going to have to take a backseat to unfucking us in the Middle East. If the Dems don't make a real effort on this front (despite likely Veto happy action by W), then fuck them too, as far as I am concerned. But for now, let them have their shot.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

Are liberals always this lazy? Sheesh. I just asked for a link to these amazing predictions so we can have a look at them since some people seem to be claiming to be the second coming of Nostradamus.

This is harder than getting the Clinton's to spill the beans about Whitewater.

it's spread over several threads tbh, and is currently on the cusp of being deleted when the board does it's next housecleaning.

Winnow, click search, type in Iraq, then go to page 14 and start with the last message, read the next 3 or 4 and that covers most of it.

Although I seriously don't know why I even bothered, because you won't do it.

How do some boards manage to have 10X's the posts we have? If it's space, theres many gigs of comics that can be deleted to make room for posts. I'd much rather keep our history than post binaries.

I cannot answer that question sir. There are a couple of people that probably could, however.
