wow kylere, that was really fucking clever. glad to see you didn't take too much time out of your daily routines of fucking (read: beating) your ass ugly trailer hag (cough wife cough), to whip up such a witty comment. go back to being a shitty stepfather and fried food enthusiast, you lard ass.

anyways, to kyoukan, sacha baron cohen is the creator/writer of Da Ali G Show. Borat is one of three skits that he does on his show, and arguably the funniest one too. his show did get nominated for an emmy or two for whatever that is worth (the emmy voters must smoke some good pot too huh kkkylere roofles).

while most of the vver's really could give a fuck, i know that there are several people that like him, so this was more for them.

I can honestly say that I have only met 1 person who likes the Ali G show. He was a former coworker and everyone hated his fucking guts. Me and everyone else who knows the show think its stupid.

This show is the embodiment of all that is, was and ever will be retarded.

Yeah, lets listen to some british dude talk like he is a black dude from the projects, and have stupid interviews on his show with people like FBI directors and ask them if it would be ok for him to have all these different drugs on him in the U.S. .. cause thats funny.. yeah.. um... right, maybe if you are a bed ridden retard that will take anything they can get..

This guy is far from funny, but with all the trashy worthless shows that are on television nowadays I guess it doesn't suprise me all that much that he is successful.

Sacha Baron Cohen is awesome. Da Ali G show is great because not only is a parody of several stereotypes, he interviews actual important figures or different types of people and totally gets them to let their guard down, with the Borat character in particular. It could very well be a hilarious movie.

I just saw this movie tonight at the sneak preview and it was hands down the funniest movie all year. Its exactly like the skit on hbo, but a lot more dirty. Unfortunately, I missed a lot of jokes because either a) I was laughing too hard or b) the theater was laughing too hard.

That's really good to hear, although to be honest I had a lot of faith that it was going to be hilarious anyways ;)

It's not often I see comedies in the theater, but with this and TPB coming out in the next few weeks, that'll be going out the window.

Oh, and just a warning, since I saw about 8 people walk out of the movie during one scene. There is a gratuitous amoung of male nudity in this movie, like more than any other movie with an R rating. However, it makes for the funniest scene ever on film.

I don't like Ali G's humor or his Borat character.

Here's and article about it though

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6071486.stm

He just seems annoying more than anything. I don't think he was duping anyone. It seems most thought he was a retard and either played along with it or tried to get rid of him.

I could have sworn all the pieces in the movie were staged. I was sure I recognized one of the women at the dinner party scene from the trailer. Maybe it was a mix. I know the TV show stuff is real. Well, this will make it all the funnier!

I agree Winnow. The number of Ali G skits/interviews that have made me even chuckle could be counted on one hand, and this Borat movie looks like the only chance it has of being funny is if you are shitty drunk.

I think it is half staged, just like the show. He mostly dupes dumb southern rednecks who are also ministers, so they probably wouldn't know who he is. The part with Pamela Anderson at the end is most definately staged. But I think that the scenarios are staged but the reactions are real.

I'm not positive of what you speak, but I do remember hearing a news item about "Borat" getting roughed up by Pam's security a while back. She was doing something near a beach and he came out of the water, and I don't think she knew about it. If that's similar to something that happens in the movie, I don't think it is staged.

Okay, yeah, that movie was fucking hilarious.

I was with 4 other people, 1 of whom had never seen Borat before, and wasn't at all familiar with Sacha Baron Cohen (pfft... girls) and everyone was cracking up. Most of the theater stood up and clapped at the end.

That nude scene Zamtuk talked about was absolutely hysterical, and I'll never get tired of him making dumb rednecks look as ignorant as they are. Go see it if you have a sense of humor.

damnit, I don't think its opening anywhere in Houston! I can't find any listings. Goddamn hillbilly Texans!!! /panic

Edit:

Quote from an article:

"The studio will now put Borat in 800 theaters opening weekend, and expand to 2,200 theaters the following weekend in the hopes that word-of-mouth trickles down to people living in the sticks."

Houston is the sticks now? I guess that is true mentally...

I'm pretty sure that it'll be showing here in Austin. Maybe it's just more of an issue with where indie-films do well?

edit: yup

Oh, and it's showing in Houston on the 10th (see the sidebar)
