I love seeing the Yankees go out in the first round! Now I just need to get the Cubs to make the first round and all will well.

I hope Al Davis lives until he's 110. The last few years have been fun to watch. Maybe next year he'll trade a first round pick for Kurt Warner.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: A-Rod is the anit-Babe. The Yankees will never win it all until they get rid of him.

problem is they can't get rid of him. even considering that the Rangers' dumbass is STILL paying for a good chunk of his salary while he plays in NY, noone wants to pick up that massively over inflated contract.

Numbers wise it's a very similar situation to Manny Ramirez, who wants to be traded every offseason, but no club will pick up his contract.

If I had a chance to trade for A-Rod to be my teams shortstop... in a frickin second. His "off-year" was still better than the so-called MVP (Jeter) (more HR, more RBI, more BB, higher OPS), and if he was at shortstop he'd be playing way better defense than at 3rd (he just is not comfortable with the movements there after playing SS his entire life).

Guess it would depend on what I'd have to give up, but you gotta find a way to get this done - he's not that pricey for what he brings to the field (off-field stuff can be dealt with I think, it's not like A-Rod is a serial murderer or anything, he's just a dude who's a little too nice and sensitive)

The "so-called" MVP as you call him was 8-16 in the post season, how was A-rod? 1-14

I would rather have Jeter over A-rod, just based on the fact that he produces in the post season almost every time. Besides Jeters year was pretty good .343 isnt as bad as it sounds

Not to mention Jeter has done very well in the leadership position in NY. Anyone remember how A-Rod did in the leadership position in Texas? Yeah, he pretty much said his team sucked, and he couldn't make up for that much suckage on his own (paraphrased). Even if that were the pure truth (which it wasn't)...You just do NOT say those kinds of things as a leader, ESPECIALLY where your fellow players can hear, read, or watch the statements in the press.

Also, Animale...you said if you were a manager you would trade for A-Rod. That statement sounds all fine and dandy in candy land, but in the world of the MLB you'd pretty much have to trade your entire team away, because you can't afford to have BOTH a team and A-Rod. (unless of course you're NY, who CAN afford him, but don't want him)

He "only" costs 16 mill to the Yankees right now. That's 4 mill less that Jeter costs. Basically, for 16 mill he's not prohibitively expensive for any team in the league due to the revenue sharing etc. etc. that's going on (well, maybe for the Royals, but nearly everybody else could afford him at 16 - and if the Yankees really want to get rid of him they might even throw in some cash). Of course, the Yankees front office realizes that A-Rod is a player that wins them games, so he's not going to be traded.

As for the Jeter reference, basically on all levels A-Rod is a better player than Jeter. I would want A-Rod playing shortstop on my team instead of Jeter (Jeter is an average at best shortstop - especially to his left, while A-Rod is firmly above average at short). While his post-season failures are something you need to think about, most teams consider it a good season just to make it to the post-season, and that's where A-Rod will help get you. (Also, for the statheads out there, Jeter's BABIP this year of ~ .400 is quite lucky, so his average is quite a bit inflated due to this - one could argue whether or not high BABIP is a skill or not (I personally don't think so) but in any case Jeter has been extremely lucky in terms of hits this year while A-Rod was close to league average). As I've said previously, even in a "down" year for A-Rod, he by most measures was the slightly superior hitter to this "career" year of Jeter (especially in power numbers).

I wouldn't trade the world for him, but if I was a GM you have to at least see what it would take and try to make it happen. However, him being traded is, I feel, quite unlikely as the Yankees will realize that he makes them a better team than if they just dumped him.

If you look at career averages Jeter is right there with A-rod in most everythingexcept rbi/HR, some stats are even better. Sure A-rod will win you games in the regular season, but even on good teams A-rod has never really produced in the post season. Jeter is a winner, if you want to know how good he is just look at the teams/personallities he has led in NY. He consistently raises up to the challenge in a tough environment. A-rod has had an excuse to fail everywhere he has played, that excuse is usually the team around him....great leader. Just because A-Rod hits HR doesnt mean he is more valuable then Jeter

Always thought BABIP was a pitching stat so im not sure where your going with that, For Batting Average for Balls In Play being 'lucky' for a hitter, well thats what a batting average is I think. Im not a stat head so help me out on that one.

You should look up stats before you post them.

A-rod's salaray was $25,680,727
Jeter's salary was $20,600,000

This year, A-rod did 121 RBIs, 113 Runs, 35 HR and a 0.290 AVG
This year, Jeter did 97 RBIs, 118 Runs, 14 HR and a 0.343 AVG

For 5 million this season, you paid for an extra 24 RBIs, -5 Runs, 21 HRs, -53 pts in AVG (But you can't really depend on RBIs and Runs since it depends on where the coach puts you). Jeter is worth the money he is being paid. If A-rod made about 4-5 million less than he is now, it wouldn't be a problem.

The Rangers are paying 9 mill of A-Rod's salary, thus the cost to the Yankees (or any team that trades for him) is 16 mil.

When you think that Carlos Lee could get a 5/$70 contract this off-season, ARod is a steal.
