Our eagle is going to rip their quarterback's eyes out in order to secure the victory. Not that we need it, LSU is going to get stomped.

Good thing we have both on our side.

Edit: For clarification, our mascot is a Tiger, the Eagle isnt our mascot. War Eagle comes from the Civil War era. During the Battle of the Wilderness in Virginia, an Auburn student was wounded and left for dead. Upon regaining consciousness he began to walk across the battlefield and found an eagle with a broken wing. He took it in and nursed it back to health. He took it back to Auburn with him the eagle traveled with him wherever he went.

During the Auburn VS Georgia game of 1892 the eagle named War Eagle because of the way it was found got out of its cage and flew away from its master into the air. It was in the air as Auburn won the game 10 - 0. After the game the eagle died and fell to the ground.

Since then War Eagle has became a greeting and chant for Auburn students and alumni. Also there is always at least one eagle kept at Auburn, currently 3 (Tiger, Nova and Spirit). Tiger actually flew during the Olympic Opening Ceremony in Salt Lake City in 2002. Tiger is no longer able to fly before games, though Nova and Spirit still do, as he now has skin cancer.

Well, I did not hear it from him and I was a bit off on the story, but this is what Wikipedia says.

War Eagle I, has the most colorful story of all of the "War Eagles". War Eagle I's story dates back to the Civil War. According to the legend, a soldier from Alabama was the sole Confederate survivor of a bloody battle. Stumbling across the battlefield, he came across a wounded young eagle. The bird was named Anvre, and was cared for and nursed back to health by the soldier. Several years later the soldier, a former Auburn student, returned to college as a faculty member, bringing the bird with him. For years both were a familiar sight on campus and at events. On the day of Auburn's first football game in 1892 against the University of Georgia, the aged eagle broke away from his master during the game and began to circle the field, exciting the fans. But at the end of the game, with Auburn victorious, the eagle fell to the ground and died.

Now, how much of that is true I don't know. But the eagle was real, and it did fly over the game. It has been tradition since.

Congrats on the win. It just sucks that the refs could have cost LSU the game with a horrible call.

Bad call, but that shit happens all the time in the SEC. Our refs suck balls.

Look for Buffalo to get stomped this weekend, so far we have scored 91 points and only given up 17. 14 were the first weekend. War Damn Eagle, if we can go undefeated this year they can't keep us out of the championship game again.

I'm telling you, not only are we going to beat Mr. Sweatervest in the Horseshoe this year, I'm running onto the field to tear the sweatervest off of him to take home as a souvenir.

That said, I'm probably going to need to find alternate transportation home, as you silly Buckeyes will have set my car on fire before I make it back to it.

Now, are you giving me that special jacket because I want to steal his sweatervest, or because I said we were going to win in Columbus this year?

I might deserve it for the first one, but the second one you can bank on!

I think Florida definitely deserves to be #2. I don't know if I think USC should be above Michigan as of right now, but I'm definitely biased.

USC is far too highly ranked. For reasons you stated and also because their offense just isn't that good. Their defense kicks fucking ass, but they need to be knocked down a few rankings.

USC has the luxury of playing in one of the weakest conferences in the country.

Tommy may have lost, but his speech about why the polls favor teams that don't play anyone over SEC, Big10, and Big12 teams was spot on. Must be nice to have 10 "gimmies" and only one "MUST WIN" game every season.

USC has some tough games. Arkansas, Nebraska, Oregon and Cal can all certainly surprise a few teams out there like we have seen. And Notre Dame is definitely not bad.

Did something happen to his knee off of the field, or did I just miss something in the news? I didn't realize he was hurt at all, let alone bad enough to need surgery! I remember hearing several people putting him above Ginn and the others just this weekend, and I would have thought they would have mentioned the injury if they had known about it then.

Apparently the reports of MCL may have been overstated. Initial reports said torn meniscus and/or MCL. He got scoped today, and while they didn't give a lot of detail, it sounds like he'll only be out a few weeks. So we should have him back for OSU! Yay!

Just need to get through a night game at Happy Valley and home vs. Iowa without him, and then we've got 3 gimme games that he can play as little as he wants to get his stride back.

Not anymore! Auburn beat Florida 27-17. WAR EAGLE! Was scared at first, our defense was playing like we did against Arkansas but in the second half they finally came back to life. Stomped Florida into the ground then.

Big words for an offense that didn't score an offensive touchdown. We shot ourselves in the foot, multiple times. Guess we'll see you in the SEC title game... NOT.

SEC officials suck, but if that was the only thing that went against us, we still would have won.

The o lineman tackling a guy in our end zone when he just had to chip block and the muffed punt are the ones I'm talking about. Auburn is too good of a team to have mental lapses like that against.

Yeah, I thought it was a good call as well. If nothing else, it would have been intentional grounding rather than an incomplete pass. It looked like he TRIED to make it look like an incomplete pass without the risk of an interception. That resulted in him basically dropping the ball instead of throwing it. That call might have taken away momentum, but it didn't take away the chances Florida had to win the game.

It was a weak enough motion to put it in doubt. I'm not harping on it because bad calls like that happen every week. It was just one of several drive killers in that second half.

We dug ourselves into that hole we were in, not the refs.

Eh, we aren't an offensive team really. We have some decent runners, Kenny is amazing but hes hurt right now. Our school prides itself on our defense though, and for the Arkansas game and first half of the Florida one our defense wasnt doing shit. That fucked up punt that got blocked completely changed the game around though. We were pumped and ready after that.

Seriously though, 4 completions and 4 interceptions. One guy got 3 of them. It was so easy to see where he was going to throw it then he would just lob it up in the air. I've never liked Brandon, hes a dickhead and thinks he is the shit but he usually does well enough that I can't complain too much. The past few games have really sucked though. He is hurt, sure, but its his own damn fault for not learning how to throw the goddamn ball away. He gets plowed over so much.
