Well, the easiest way out is that a concerto is a piece of music composed for a solo instrument and accompanied by an orchestra. So you could have a concerto composed for trombone, or lute and that would be the get out of jail free answer.
To get a little technical...trombones would nearly always be included as the trombone is always represented in a full orchestra at least twice. If for some reason the accompanying orchestra is strictly a string orchestra then of course the answer would be no, but at least from all my experience of playing and listening...that situation would be rather uncommon.
As for a lute, I've never seen a lute as an instrument in an orchestra, I have however seen concertos composed for one or more classical guitars (closely related to a lute) so I'm sure there are concertos out there for lute.
Oh, and I'm not Mr Drolgin, but I felt like imparting an answer upon you good sirs.

Scientists at the Niels Bohr Institute acting on Drolgin's advice recently succeeded in causing quantum teleportation.

The answer is:
Sometimes.
---
The sound before the Big Bang was 'One, two, three, four'. Some people claim that there was a sound even before that, and that it went something like 'One, two'.
To all of you: I smurf you right in the smurf.
