High Capacity thumb drives

Post by sarlen »

The place I work recently bought a few of us new thumb drives.

I picked them up in a BestBuy in Chicago on a clearence rack for 79.99. Although this is the first "thumb drive" I have had that was an actual hdd instead of flash card I was pretty impressed with its performance while using a usb 2.0 port. I did however hook it up to a 1.1 port and it promptly lost the partition for me (lesson learned). It also doesnt seem to like large single file transfers, I moved a 5 gig file to it and it was corrupt after the transfer, tried it several times with the same result. Works great for moving around mp3's or average size installers however.

Anyone else using a 6 to 8gig + thumb sized drive with more reliability? This thing is ok but doesnt quite get the job done I need it for.

What brand did you get? I think I remember a discussion about these a few months back.. Some of the larger sized HDD thumbdrives really suck...If I remember correct Western Digital has a few out.. Haven't heard any complaints about them..
