Haha, I hope this doesn't degenerate into the retarded threads at Sherdog...
But, come on. Hughes won and displayed his heart and his ultra effective conditioning. But BJ showed that "prodigy" is his nick for a reason. His BJJ absolutely dominated Hughes' MFS ground-game, and BJ's hands really exposed Hughes' inability to strike.
WAR St. Pierre, next champ!

BJ has amazing flexibility...and he looked like he was in the best shape of his career. He looked intense pre-fight. His takedown defense/sprawl is insane. I am sure Matt Hughes was frustrated as hell at not being able to get him to the ground.
I like both fighters. They both honsetly seem like nice guys...it was hard for me to see either one lose...and for a while I thought it might go to decision and see BJ on top. But after that failed submission leg triangle for 30+ seconds at the end of round 2...BJ blew his wad and had nothing left.
Just watching round 3 start and seeing BJ just stand there...like his feet were glued to the canvas...and seeing his arms hang so low....I thought the only way BJ could win at that point was to knock Hughes out.
Yeah, Hughes did not look impressive...but he is. His cardio is great...his power is great....his skill is good....and he does have one hell of a record....but everyone has his time in the sun....and I think George St. Pierre is going to be his toughest bout.
I like the way St. Pierre came in and congratulated him...then took the mic and did a little trash talking...I don't think Hughes knows how to trash talk...it's not even his style.
