Madden 2007

Post by Bubba Grizz »

Has anyone else bought this yet? I bought it for the PC for the first time ever. While the game looks great and plays very well, the controller config sucks. It seems they only support a very limited amount of controllers. I had a PS2 and I bought an adapter to USB and while the controller works there is no way to seriously configure it so that you play like you would normally on a console. Kinda pisses me off because I really don't want to have to go buy a Logitech game pad.

One of the reasons I bought it for the PC is for the updates. I don't have network for my PS2 and don't really plan to. The first roster update is supposed to happen tomorrow morning. I wonder if Branch will be with Seattle.

Another issue I have with the game is that you can't Alt-Tab out of the screen if you want to. Annoying.

I have it for the 360. Superstar mode is pretty nice, but it takes some getting used to. I haven't been able to stomach most sport games on the PC for several years.

I have it for the PS2.

Superstar mode is pretty damn fun so far. I have a Free Safety that got draft by my favorite team (Chargers) that starts that I play mostly, and a WR that got drafted by the Steelers (#2 on the depth chart behind Ward) that I just started last night.

The first game I bought would lock up and get several disk errors before the game would even boot up, I went and traded it in one for one and am having no problems now.

What's the gist of superstar mode? What's different about it?

Haven't had the time to play Madden lately, so I haven't picked it up yet, but I probably will in the near future.

You create a player, and then you go through some Pre-draft activities. You can choose to participate in team drills/practices before the season starts. This also includes hiring/firing agents, doing interviews, etc..

Once you get to game-time, the game is simulated until your player is in. Then you control your character only from a slightly over the shoulder view (almost first person).

hmm, is the game simulated visually or just number crunching before your player enters the game? I want to watch a mostly simulated game which you used to be able to do before Madden 07 which now doesn't have a computer vs computer option.

You watch as the computer simulates the game. They removed the "cut-scenes" of the players celebrating and such in order to make the time pass a little faster, but you do not just jump from you kicking off to your first offensive possession without showing the defensive plays.

Since I suck at the game, should I choose to play Brett Favre so all the interceptions don't throw off the simulation?

Bahahahaha Winnow I think you are obsesed. I think I will have to send you a Favre bobblehead.

I gave in and bought a damn logitech controller last night so I can play the game. Annoyed me but if nothing else I have yet another controller for my computer. Yes I play the Packers in the Franchise mode and yes I throw a ton of interceptions with Favre.

Superstar mode is incredibly boring to me. I wish they'd just focus on the game instead of all this other odd shit they added.

Superstar last year was the same way for me, but with the nearly first person view, and a couple of the other features they have added to it, I think I prefer this over franchise. And so you know I typically prefer Franchise.
