The one thing I will give Microsoft credit for is they're welcoming homebrew. Which is the complete opposite of Sony who try their best to stamp it out with every PSP firmware update they push out. Wonder if they'll change their stance on that with the PS3. More than likely not.

what? as a console company no one has done more for homebrew games than sony. net yaroze was the first consumer level dev kit ever released that still has a huge community and tons of free middleware. two psp games are former homebrew developed games, and the designer of lumines comes from that background as well.

selling a bunch of shitty games on marketplace isn't supporting homebrew, and trying to stop people from hacking the psp so they can play pirated games isn't blocking it.

XBMC is the best homebrew app ever made...although that required hacks.

Sony cant do a similar XNA thing with the PS3 because it takes half of MIT to create a game for the cell processor while Xbox's XNA encourages more creativity and less fucking around with difficult programming.

I think the big part of the update which barely even got a mention in the actual article linked is that it shows the user-developed portion activated. I can't go to the link over my break at work, or I would quote it from the comment section for the "story."
