Enough faith to walk on water!

Or not.

MIRACLE IS SUNK
A PRIEST has died after trying to demonstrate how Jesus walked on water.

Evangelist preacher Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could repeat the biblical miracle.

But he drowned after walking out to sea from a beach in the capital Libreville in Gabon, west Africa.

One eyewitness said: "He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus.

"He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat.

"He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back."

Um.

Wouldn't...

Uh...

Wouldn't you... you know... check it out for yourself before you asked everyone to come watch?

If he was that smart, he wouldn't be believing in that shit in the first place.

He wouldn't test it beforehand because the entire effort was founded on faith. The miracles that Jesus performs in the Jesus sections of the bible are always done that way.

The basic format is that someone asks Jesus to perform a miracle, Jesus asks them if they believe that he can do so, and if they do in fact believe, then the miracle is performed. The only way that someone would try something this mind-numbingly stupid is if they had attained a level of faith such that they were convinced that they could walk on water by the power of that faith alone. In that state, not only would they feel assured of success, but they wouldn't even consider testing it out beforehand, because that would prove that they had doubts and render the miracle impossible.

you would think though, that after the first two steps into the water from shore you would realize "hey, my feet are not staying on top of the water; whats this all about?"

instead of just continuing on out till you drown ahaha.

oh well, one less kook.

It was a test of faith. Draw your own conclusions.

I quite agree.
Can hope every teleevangelist in the US will try it, with the same result :)

Score one for Darwin.
War is an option whose time has passed. Peace is the only option for the future. At present we occupy a treacherous no-man's-land between peace and war, a time of growing fear that our military might has expanded beyond our capacity to control it and our political differences widened beyond our ability to bridge them. . . .

Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war.
--RICHARD M. NIXON, "REAL PEACE" (1983)

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children."

You know, if they required this test for every televangelist to broadcast, I would watch the ones that passed.
