*sniff* that was beautiful. Sadly Rummy won't be seeing it unless Fox picks it up for some bizarro reason!

It was nice to hear, but the sides are so clearly defined by now that he's preaching either to the choir or the deaf.

We need something to shake the very foundations of this country's government. Until then, there will be no change and we will continue on our present course towards a fascist state.

people don't draw distinctions between reporting news and opining current events anymore. this is why fucking garbage channels like fox news are so popular, and cnn had to change their format from a news channel to THE TERROR NETWORK: FIND OUT WHY YOUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER BE SAFE AGAIN.

Speaking of CNN, I flipped past it last week or so ago and watched it for about 30 seconds. They had some SPECIAL BREAKING REPORT about that Carr weirdo when he landed in the US.
The showed the video of the cars pulling away from the tarmac going about 5 miles per hour and stopping at an intersection before making a right hand turn. Their description of what we were seeing was : WE NOW SEE THEM SPEEDING AWAY FROM THE AIRPORT. They also seem shocked and outraged that they weren't told exactly when and what airport he would be landing.

Midnyte and company,
I sure would like to hear your opinion of that editorial. Are there any points that you disagree with and would like to rebut?

I have a genuine curiosity about why it is that conservatives derail threads like this faster than they bust nuts on children, or avoid them like the plague as is the case with Metanis.

Is it the overwhelming amount of logic he employs and support he puts forth for his opinion that precludes you to dismiss it altogether, or is it the (more likely) case that the words and method of delivery, being as intricate as it was, was much too complex and difficult for you, the booboisie, to understand?

I haven't watched it. I don't desire to. I'm sure it is the typical rant about a corrupt powerful man. Probably very similar to many other anti-Rummy editorials. He is a corrupt guy with tons of power. What is it you expect? If your wet dreams came true and someone gunned him down today, there would be a guy just like him tomorrow who would jump right in and take his place. I know the story already. I just chose not to act surprised and revolted like you do.

Exactly! This was NOT journalism. This was a well thought out editorial, nothing more, with only the direction of spin and superior quality of the analogies to differentiate it from most "conservative" editorials. Personally, I thought he was overselling his point a bit and ran a bit long but thats just me.

I got it. My little rant about "we got it..", is my compilation of the continual rants about the Bush Adminstration.

I watched and fully understand KO's big beautiful pwnage of Rummy...blah blah blah. Yes, he can speak very well. Neat. I just don't find his autrocities any more offensive than I find most people in very high places of power.

You still have hope and I find it cute. I don't share your hope that someday you will have a government without corruption. That someday you will have a government who does it all right. A government who truly cares about its people and the future of the world as a whole. History has shown us all that this has never existed. There is no LOGICAL reason to believe it will ever happen.

My realization of this, makes it easy for me not to be so shocked by all the corruption everyone here gets all hard in the pants about on a daily basis. You post these "blasts?" by KO and think it's neat or that it accomplished something or that it has pointed out something earth shattering and of any consequence at all. It's not. It hasn't.

Like I said before, let's have everyones little wet dream come true and the entire Bush Administration goes down in a plane crash. All dead. The small minded, short sighted morons that infest this board and our earth will get a chubby and think something great happened. It didn't. Another piece of shit group full of power hungry, "we know what's best for everyone" idealist fucks will move right in behind them. They will be wiser though. They will learn from the mistakes of the Bush admin and learn to mask their corruption under the guise of being the anti-Bush admin, just like the Bush admin said they were the anti-Clinton admin. Just like the Clinton Admin said they were the anti-Bush admin. And so on and so on.

Corruption exists, has always existed and will always exist. I accept that. Does this mean that we should put no effort into decreasing the amount of corruption or even keeping it from increasing? Therein lies the core of your ideology, that the world is a mean angry place with lots of evil people and we as individuals have no reason or responsibility in attempting to improve this world, nor could we.

History has shown us that we can and we should. This country exists precisely because people rose up against such a government. You are correct in your assertion that history only teaches those willing to learn. But it is YOU who is unwilling or unable to look at the events in history, namely the birth of the United States of America among others, that directly refute or contradict the very notions you suppose they support.

The very meaning of conservatism is to not change, to not progress, to not even make the attempt at improving this world and making it better for our decendants. It is from this flawed core ideology that the rest of your pessimistic and apathetic nonsense is derived. It is your extremely selective view of history that results in your inability to understand todays world.

If things were always as you view them to have been or are now, America would not be here as a nation, the freedoms that you enjoy and take for granted would not exist, and the whole of humanity would be under the control of tyranny and corruption. The fact that it is not is what gives me hope for a better, less corrupt future.

No arguement from me Xyun. I agree, we must and will continue to fight against corruption. I'm merely saying it is futile and laughable at the blind voracity in which some do it and have fooled themselves into believing they are truly making a difference. Especially when they have very fucked up perceptions of true corruption and evil. I will side with whomever takes out an evil dictator of a country with little to no freedom or human rights over the small minded ones who think the true bad guy is the President who lied about why he did it. It's laughable. The same kind of person who thinks that way is the same one who cheers and celebrates the murder of a "suspected" child molestor, yet is horrified at the thought of not enough proof against Iraq to go in and take out Saddam. Sorry, but there is no consistency on this board. The swings are too grand and filled with blind passion.

I thought we went into Iraq to "tip the balance toward moderate democracy" Mid... not to remove an evil dictator. Oh wait, that's the new justification since the balance actually has been tipped AWAY from moderate democracies in the middle east due to our invasion and occupation of Iraq.

I said a couple of years ago to you that the risks of invading Iraq far outweighed the benefits. Now that we're several years in, and the risks have mostly come to bear while the benefits remain to be seen... I ask - was I correct to oppose the invasion/occupation of Iraq from the beginning?

The answer is unequivocably (in my mind at least) yes - Rummy and his secret information be damned. I have yet to see any result of our Iraq experiment (which has cost numerous lives on all sides, pushed Iran/Syria/Saudi Arabia further away from dialogue with the West, and fragmented our alliances with the rest of the world) to merit it being a positive thing.

Of course, now the question is, what do we do about it? At this point, I really don't know. And while I don't think his administration has the foresight or ability to get us out of the mess they've created, for our sake I hope that Bush leaves us no worse than he found us - which would take a massive rebound from where we are now (probably enough to get his brother elected President).

I sure hope not. I think we will see the swing back to a Democrat for a term or two. Then the country will get sick of them and vote in a Republican and then.....I think you get the picture. It's so boringly cyclical.
