I am a peace loving man, but I can see only war in that mans future. His "election" to power spelled the end of diplomacy in Iran. He is militaristic (who isn't these days?) and patriotic and in charge of a non-nuclear nation surrounded by nuclear powers.

I assure you this will never come to pass. National leaders of different nations do not debate one another on public TV.

I also believe that Iran will come into nuclear weaponry. They have the money and the willpower. As a major oil producer, they also have just enough leverage to keep the security council off thier backs as long as the US is embroiled in Iraq. WTF is Israel going to do about it unless they have the infrastructure out in the open for the bombing, a lesson I'm sure they've taken to heart.

They'd be stupid not to, quite frankly. They've essentially been given a window to do it in with the only power that could stop them in a quagmire in Iraq. Once they have nuclear weapons, the ballgame changes.

I'd put money Israel has the targets picked out already and will blow them to oblivion at some point soon. Assuming nothing changes soon that is.

And to think... we might could have avoided all of this if Bush could have kept his mouth shut and not including Iran in his "Axis of Evil" when they had a moderate President 5 years ago

Who knows, if things had gone differently Iran might be a nuclear democracy right now breathing down Saddam's throat with our weapons, eventually creating 2 democracies there... could have happened if I had been President. But of course if Iran had helped with Afghanastan and helped us focus on Osama it wouldn't have played well for Bushie to "save the day" in Iraq and revenge his father's shortcommings... I'm afraid now that we have missed our window of opportunity there, possibly not but it looks bleaker all the time.

Marbus if you really think that anything bush could have not said 5 years ago would have led to us being happy with a nuclear capable (democratic or not) Iran now, then you must be more high than anyone I have ever known.

I never said that I wanted to go in and bomb them. Now, do you seriously think that Iran does not a world without America? I see this as a major concern, especially with them having nuclear capabilities and the backing of two HUGE countries that feel then same about us.

The only reason why China & Russian back them is because they are making a nice chunk o change off selling the the technology. NOTHING to do with any sort of conspiracy to topple the USA for crying out loud.

I elieve that's one reason why they want bunker busting bombs from the United States, which I'm sure the US will sell to them and then give them the money to pay for them.
