Over the weekend, the Internet flared over a GameSpot interview with Sony Computer Entertainment America president Kaz Hirai. We haven't heard much from Sony executives since E3, and Hirai managed cleared several controversial subjects surrounding PlayStation 3 and Sony's others plans for 2006 and beyond.

Instead of making this all flowery, let's get to the point: what did Hirai have to say?

PS3 is not yet in production. "We've not announced and we haven't set really a specific date to say, "As of this day we're going to start manufacturing," he says.

Launch titles for PS3 have not yet been determined, and don't expect confirmation until about a month before launch.

PS3 will be online on day one, and multimedia content will not be limited to Sony-released music, movies, etc.

PSP's download service is still in development. A release date, however, is TBA.

Sony plans to release the first batch of emulated PlayStation games for PSP this year and very close to PS3's launch, if they can manage it.

No redesign or price drop is currently on Sony's agenda (publically, at least).

Hirai spins the disastrous UMD situation. "If there are advantages, or for the motion picture companies to take advantage of UMD to deliver their content or music companies to deliver their content on UMDs, that's great," he says.

Can Sony really maintain its E3 promise of two million units worldwide for the November launch?

Seriously, Winnow, we get that you're not into the PS3. You should really stop bringing it up in every PS3 thread. Some people are looking forward to it, I'm not really one of them, but it doesn't serve much of a purpose to constantly go after it.

I said the movie looked badass. No harm in adding the latest news afterwards. Don't want people saving up their duckets thinking they'll be playing Motorstorm day one like some originally thought about Gears of War for the 360.

If/when Sony announces it is officially a release title, it would play a factor for those few that will be able to actually buy a PS3 if it comes out on time in November and for the next several months afterwards.

i think winnow has honestly contributed more than most to the forums; at least on the Video Game(along with Ani lately), Comic, and computers/tech forums. I know i have read a bunch of his input before making certain purchases of mine.

though, i do have an ipod nano with swank nike+ adapter! my workout is now like a video game and i can see graphs!

The afformentioned game looks dope, i'll probably get my own PS3 after the holidays when the first production models are no longer on the market.

Oddly enough I'd normally say I hate that song, but it really worked for the game (and the game looked bad ass to boot). Sadly the game didnt look $600 worth of bad ass.

That is the type of game I would enjoy the most and get the most playtime out of on a console (simulation like ssx, atv offroad fury)... however, that looks like a pre-rendered intro as opposed to actual game footage...

Hate to agree with Trias, but declaring Winnow's never contributed anything to these forums seems kind of thick. Lots of people used his hardware thread to help make buying decisions, and his contributions to the comics section barely needs mentioning.

Game looks awesome, btw.

Yes because shitting all over every PS3 thread about how much the PS3 is going to suck and how totally awesome his xbox 360 is is not at all fucking annoying and worthless.

I won't even fucking bother explaining how fucking soul draining it is watching him drool over some picture of a 13 year old japanese girl in some shitty comic, or navigating his moronic shit in current events. It makes me openly cry just thinking about granting a shithead of that magnitude the power to vote in the most powerful country in the world. The only thing that keeps me sane is the knowledge that people that useless don't get up off their fat asses to vote anyway.
