Interesting trip to the yogurt shop
So I had left work early yesterday to go run a few errands. On my way back home I decided to get some frozen yogurt, so I stopped at a place called Glaciers in a small town called Wayzata.
I am about 100 feet from the door when this huge line of cars starts to roll into the parking lot. Soon I piece it together and realize that there are about 40-50 cars total. About 20 state patrol cars, and about 20 suburbans. There were four guys in each suburban, each with a assault rifle and most of them were hanging out of the windows. Smack dab in the middle is Bush's limo.
So here I am standing there on the sidewalk still half confused and Bush gets out and walks about 10 feet in front of me ( I got the obligatory presidential wave) he goes in, gets some frozen yogurt and comes right back out.
Apparently he was going to a benefit dinner at one of the mansions on lake Minnetonka nearby. I knew he was in town, but I had no idea he would be anywhere near where I was at the time so it was kind of a funny coincidence.
I got on the freeway to go home after this and the westbound side of the freeway (goes past Wayzata ) was 4 lanes and at a dead stop for 5 miles or so. I guess they had all exits onto the freeway closed for a good 2.5-3 hours.
Anyways, thats my story.

Taking pics would require fumbling in your pocket, then raising something to take site at Duhbya. A clear act of agression which would likely get you shot.Xouqoa wrote:pics or it didn't happen
I think a complete lack of pictures of the event, combined with Funk not being dead, is clear proof that it happened.

My office is about 45 yards from the american embassy in town and the last time he came to town, 75% of the people didn't come to work because they were huge planned protests.
3 days before the event, unmarked planes started flying over the area doing what I can only imagine is recon and prep and the morning of, cops with bomb-sniffing dogs were patrolling, usually busy, but at that point mostly deserted street. The whole thing was fucked up.
I did see Collin Powell coming out of the Embassy one day back in 2002.

Along the lines of what I was thinking, I was going to grab my phone out of my pocket to take a picture at least of the small army with him, but there were a few of the trucks set up around the parking lot, and the Men in Black looking guys standing in the grass all around the shop. I decided that if I went for something in my pocket I would probably at the very least get tackled and I had no desire to go through anything unnecessary, so I just let it go.Zaelath wrote:Taking pics would require fumbling in your pocket, then raising something to take site at Duhbya. Being at an ice cream shop and all of the sudden seeing upwards of 100 guys with guns is a little intimidating to say the least.
I remember when the G8 Summit was held in Banff about 4-5 years ago. A coworker and I were working on a project at his place when Bush, Blair and Co. arrived. He lived west of Calgary in the flight path of all the helicopters on their way to the resort where it was held. We had the TV on and could see when various leaders arrived and flew over. With Bush, the sky was alive, almost like someone kicked a wasp nest.

Sweet Bush does Yogurt and angers one, Clinton got a hair cut and delayed flights at lax by 45 minutes.
