I was discussing with a friend the possibility of him opening up an at-home-daycare for his wife in MA. He is really psyched about getting it up and running but he's going to need to do a bit of work to his house to get it up to code before opening up. Now.. someone told him that it may be possible to get some kind of funding from the government because it's a daycare and he asked me if I could look into it.
I'm all for helping out my friend, but I have no idea where I would need to go or what kind of codes he needs to meet to open this daycare in MA. Does anyone here have experience with such things? Or perhaps know how to go about getting this loan thing for the daycare?
Did a bit of searching online, but I'm unsure what to trust. Would it just be better for him to try to take out a small business loan from the bank? Anyone know of funding programs that might help him out?
Essentially he wants to start a daycare business for his wife and then when it picks up he will quit his job and work at home too. He's a family man and really hates his current job (management) because it keeps him away from his kids during the day and when he comes home the kids are already in bed.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
