Rallos Zek

Post by Voronwë »

Congrats on killing RZ.

I had a question about the FoH news item. I would try to get the answer on fohguild.org but that page is getting hit harder than a ho at a tihijuana brothel.

So quick timeline:

AL kills Rallos on MithMarr a week or so ago
Much speculation about inside info from devs, beta, etc
Now allegations of exploitation.
FoH gets what they term a clean kill yesterday.

What is the difference between the 2 guilds' kills that makes FoH the first legit one?

i'm not trying to troll, cause the last thing i want is to read a thread about how how Thott sucks, how DKP is lame, etc.

i'm just looking for a quick synopsis of what their exploit was i guess. Thanks in advance :)

Afterlife supposedly had 'l33t beta infoz' which in the eyes of some people invalidates them as getting Rallos Zek first.

Nah we are calling them cheap fucks because of how Thott wrote his news update like they were hero's and fought the impossible fight etc etc. When the truth of the matter is, and this has been confirmed now by numerous folks as truth, is that RZ died to a bug on MM.

An enchanter had a charmed mob fighting RZ, the enchanter died to a dot and the pet stayed on RZ. RZ killed the pet after the enchanter was dead and for some reason all of the arena mobs agro'd RZ and basically did all the work. Without that they wouldn't have won. They've even gone back more then once since the encounter was slightly tuned and they haven't been able to kill him. I don't know about them, but I know damned well that once we kill something, we rarely ever lose again.

We would have never slung mud back if they didn't piss on our porch in the first place.

Thanks guys. Hands down the single most challenging encounter ever to be seen in EverQuest and all of its expansions. I hope to god it isnt nerfed beyond belief honestly. While it is extremely difficult, it is also very beatable. Just takes a lot of dedication and a lot of trial runs to get the legs down.

Grats FoH! Does this mean they will stop shutting Veeshan server down twice a week, since they were likely doing so just to fuck with you guys whenever you got close?:)

Isn't that the point of expansions?

Seriously though, seems like you beat RZ much faster than it took the AoW to die. Maybe they should beef RZ up a little.

Well AoW was the end all encounter of SoV. RZ is a bump in the middle of the road. I'd compare him to first brood dragons or AL\HP\Creator. In that light I think the encounter may be a bit overboard. It should provide FoH with a nice buffer so I understand why they don't want it changed.

Well mind you also, AoW would have died months and months earlier if we could have had attempt after attempt to get our strat down.

Actually,

FoH prob would have killed AoW mid SoV if they had not gone the other way in the expansion.

They went NtoV Vulak route and only switched in the last couple of months to killing both.

If thats not the main reason it sure contributed.

actually Xtac
NToV gear and weapon upgrades made killing AoW in SoV possible.
Just had to follow the logical progression of gear/player upgrading.

Forthe has it correct. If RZ was in plane of time, I'd agree with Kilmoll, but he's not. HP/AL/Creator are to Luclin as RZ is to PoP.

If you're referring to time spent learning the encounter, then no, it didn't take us longer to beat AoW. We spent 6 hours a night for the past two weeks figuring RZ out. AoW was like 2 hours a night, 1 night a week, for 3-4 weeks.

One thing, I doubt that we could have killed AoW without NToV loot. I don't consider NToV a setback to AoW, it's a necessary step. However, we could have killed AoW without doing Tunare and Ventani beforehand. Doing them first was really what slowed our progression to AoW. But, Xtac is effectively correct. Our focus wasn't on AoW until the very end of the expansion.
